Chapter Three:
A simple mind might have lost count of the days tracking the fugitive Morgan, but Ed possessed a clarity of purpose. Finding and torturing that woman to death was his only goal. For the four days since he led the empire’s forces from Haven, that was the only motivation driving his actions.
Perhaps this was the time to embrace the mages of the court. Ed cared little for the prancing magicians and their secrets ways. Too often, the powers they claimed to control failed at the worst possible time. This far from the inner spire required an exceptional talent to cast any useful spell, and from what Ed witnessed of the court mages, they didn’t have the skills needed to find their ass with both hands. Ed saved magic as a last resort when all else failed.
