Chapter 7It took two days for Cerdic’s soldiers to locate Tony, with the help of the King’s house mage. That wouldn’t have happened so soon if Tony hadn’t left minute, but intentional clues to his whereabouts.
When they appeared, mid-afternoon, in front of the cave he’d come upon in the foothills to the north of Mayor Galen’s city of Esholone, Tony shifted to his wolf, snapping, and snarling, doing his best to make it appear he was ready to die rather than being caught. Only the mage’s holding spell kept him from escaping, not that he intended to—a fact only he and the mage knew.
