Nala Sitting outside the house's porch, I was deliberating what to do when two Omicrons entered. Omicrons were the police officers of our world, and I wondered what they were doing at my house. Had a crime been committed? Was there an emergency? I didn't want to deal with anything now, but it seemed inevitable. "Nala Schröder?" One of the officers said, and I nodded. "Alpha Caleb Schmidt summons you," he said, and I wondered what the Alpha wanted with me. I got up and followed them. My mind was muddled already. I couldn't process much. I needed to find a way out of the arranged marriage, and I needed to find it fast. Omicrons barely talked, so I doubted I would get much out of them. When we arrived at the Alpha's office, they took me to the holding cells instead of seeing the Alpha. I didn't know I was arrested until I was pushed into the cell, and the bars were locked. I held on to the bars, wondering why I was being locked up and what my crime was. My wolf Tess was silent. I guess they had silver in the cells. After yelling for forty minutes, I realised no one would explain what had happened. My mind began to reel with past events if I had committed any offence that would warrant this type of treatment. But I couldn't think of any. The fact that I couldn't think of anything scared the hell out of me. What was actually going on? Had I been framed? No food was delivered, leaving me hungry and thirsty. Soon, I fell asleep. The sound of the bar opening and the clanking of metal woke me, and I saw two officers entering my cell. Letting me up, they began to drag me out. "What the hell is going on here. What did I do? Can someone tell me why I am being held here? What is happening? You can't just pick me up under the pretence of the Alpha summons and then lock me up for hours without an explanation. This should be illegal. This is wrong," I protested, but the Omicrons didn't say a word. They were silent. I began to get scared because it seemed like I was trapped in a dream, and there would be no waking up for me. They took me out of the building to the assembly ground, where some pack members had been assembled. My eyes widened with confusion. What was going on? No one wanted to tell me, yet things were happening. They dragged me to the punishment tree, its gnarled branches casting ominous shadows in the fading light. Roughly, they pressed me against the rough bark, the coarse texture scraping my skin. They forced my arms around the trunk, binding my wrists tightly, ensuring I clung to the tree with no hope of escape. The rope bit into my flesh, compelling me to embrace the tree's unyielding surface. I realised what was about to happen to me, but no one had yet told me why. Then I smelled Alpha Caleb. He had finally emerged. "As you all know, Maxwell will be returning next week, and Nala Schröder was his betrothed and your future Luna," he began, I didn't miss the past tense in the sentence, and I thought to myself 'what a psycho'. I didn't feel like a future Luna from my current position. I was worse than a slave. Treating me like a criminal doesn't speak well. "Due to age issues, Maxwell has cancelled the engagement and has decided he would mate with a younger wolf," he said, and I was in shock. I was just hearing this for the first time. Was this the new development my uncle was talking about? "Unfortunately, the war between Bloodhound Pack and the rogue king had lasted longer than necessary. I regret sending our men and my son to help Alpha Ethan. But now that Bloodhound has been defeated and fallen under the control of the rogue king, Maxwell is coming home. The time spent fighting war caused Nala to wait long, but now that she is older, Maxwell wants a younger Luna." He explained, and I wondered what type of psychos were in this pack. No one told me this s**t. "Not wanting her to lose out completely and end up with a lesser pack member, I decided to unite her with Delta Brian, but the Gamma felt she was only qualified for Luna. She didn't only insult the gesture but also insulted me. She said I was stupid. Which begs the question of what she would do if she ever gets the chance to gain some power." He said, and people began to murmur. "Anyone that can disrespect their Alpha and defy their alpha orders has the tendency to commit Mutiny. Nala has always been a difficult child like her mother, and I have seen that her Uncle and his wife have been unable to rehabilitate her. They have shielded her all her life, but today, she will discover what happens to the wolves guilty of insubordination." He said, and I could hear some of the pack members worried. Most of them knew he was lying. I had always been kind to everyone, and they were aware of the hardships I endured living with my Uncle. While some people felt sorry for me, others, especially the Elites, would easily side with my Uncle since he was now the pack's Gamma. The man completely took over my father's life, as if my father had never existed. No one dared to oppose the pack Gamma now, so they remained silent, their murmurs nonexistent. "You will be flogged for your actions, and you will be wedded to the first son of the Omega family, Riley Klein next week. It seems Delta Brian is above your station. Teaching you humility will help the future of this pack and protect us from Mutiny," he said, and with that, A guard tore my dress from the back and went to work.
