As soon as Garie entered her room, she locks her door and unpacks her things that she brought with her. The last thing she pulled out of her bag was her notebook where her notes about the jade tablet were written.
She then sat on her chair in front of her desk and then she grabbed her pen and started jotting down what she remembered on what James told her yesterday about Heaven’s Triangle.
She was being detailed about her notes when her cellphone started ringing. She pulled out her cellphone from her bag and saw the name Levi on the screen. Garie immediately answered the call.
“Levi.”
“I just saw what you sent me through the scanner. What the hell is this?”
Garie heard from the person on the other line. Levi Moore is the gamer and genius young master of the Moore family from Australia, and also Garie and James’ childhood friend. His family is also known to be the most innovative. They have been around the development business since the very start, and most of the offspring born in their family were known for their outstanding intelligence and excellent sense of hearing.
Their business is consists of manufacturing electronics, gadgets, and different software. They also recently ventured into automotive manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. Their company has been partners with the businesses of the three other Seekers families.
The head of the Moore family, the current CEO of their company has been the ears and eyes of the Seekers as he provides them Intel using his software that he developed solely for the organization. He may work behind the scenes and never once step foot in a tomb, but his son – Levi has been working closely with Garie when it comes to archaeology.
Levi is considered to be a genius when he graduated from MIT at a very early age and has been one of the best engineers their company ever had. He may be innocent and naive and likes working in the safety of his workshop, but when a location piqued his interest, he will surely go, along with his top-of-the-line gadgets.
“What do you think about it?” She asked.
“I think it’s a big headache; I can decipher the texts. Why need my help when you have your grandfather’s notes as a reference? You can decipher it yourself.” Levi asked.
“I already checked them and it confuses me more since some glyphs have two meanings. And when I tried to make out a sentence from it, it’s all messed up.” Garie told him.
Levi sighed.
“There is a limit in what my program can do. Why have you so worked up on this tablet anyway?” he asked.
“Uncle Milton sent that tablet to the museum from his expedition in Turkmenistan. I believe the tablet is a clue or it contains the proper direction as to where the Lost Artifact is located.” Garie explained and suddenly Levi went silent, and Garie can only hear the sound of the keyboard as well as the wheels of Levi’s swivel chair.
“Levi, are you still there?” Garie asked.
“Why didn’t you tell me that it’s all about the Lost Artifact?” Levi whined and Garie was taken back.
“Didn’t I tell you?”
“No!”
“Well, sorry.”
“I need to see the tablet up close. This is so exciting; I am currently booking a flight to London.” Levi told her and Garie furrowed her eyebrows.
“You’re flying commercially? Why not use your dad’s plane?” She asked and Levi snorted.
“The old man’s not here. He took the plane to god knows where. Besides, it’s more fun to fly commercial.” He told her.
“Whatever. Just don’t forget to bring all the gadgets you can carry. James and I will wait for you.” She told him.
“James? Who’s James? You got a boyfriend?” Levi asked.
“The hell no!” Garie exclaimed.
“Who is he then?”
“It’s Zhang Jin Qiang. He’s staying here with me because he’s a new medical staff in our hospital.” Garie told Levi.
“Oh. In that case, Hunter should join us too. You know, like the old times. I’ll call him.”
“Just get here quick.”
********************************.
After talking to Levi, Garie freshen up and changed into something more presentable for the visit to the hospital. She chose to wear a black sleeveless dress shirt and red stilettos. She put on her red lipstick over her bare face and just brushed her hair.
Garie grabbed her handbag and stuffed her wallet and keys inside. Then she remembered the sample that she took from the tablet and decided to bring it to the hospital. So she took the ziplock from her other bag and stuff it inside her handbag. She was about to go out of her room when her phone started ringing again. This time, Garie grinned when she saw Hunter’s name on the screen.
She immediately answered the call as she checks herself in the mirror.
“Hey, Hunt.”
“Margareth.”
Hunter Gates is the young master of the Gates family and Margareth’s cousin. He is a serious professor at Princeton, that teaches philosophy but he takes great interest in archaeology. He is the kind of guy that didn’t like getting his hands dirty and he would use his money to make other people do the task for him.
The Gates family came from America, and they are a family of educators. They were known to have a photographic memory that they passed down to their offspring, together with their undeniable wits and the ability to see well in the dark.
Aside from being excellent educators, their family also owns a few private schools and private airlines. The eldest supposed to be was Milena Gates who was married to a Beauford. But when she died, the position was passed down to her younger brother who handles both the family businesses and their part in the Seekers organization.
“Levi called me and he is on his way there to you. What is this I hear that you found a clue on the Lost Artefact?” Hunter asked.
“Yeah. Uncle Milton sent me a clue and Levi is flying in to examine it closely. You should come too; maybe we can help Uncle Milton find the elusive artifact.” She told him.
“Maybe I can drop by, but I cannot leave my class for a long time.”
Garie rolled her eyes and went out of her room, but stopping by her door.
“And also what is this I heard that you are now living with a man?” Hunter asked and Garie frowned.
“And where the bloody hell did you hear that?” She asked.
“Levi told me.”
“That gossiping toad. I wasn’t living with any man. Uncle Michael asked me to take in James while he is working in our hospital.” Garie hissed as she walked towards the kitchen.
But then Garie halted her steps when she saw James in the kitchen preparing the food that Benjamin gave them before leaving. He changed into his black slacks pants, white button-up shirt, and black tie. Somehow Garie cannot help gawk at him as he moves around the kitchen.
“Margareth, I ask you a question.”
Garie heard his cousin.
“What did you say?” She asked and it gained James’ attention.
Garie ignored James and walked towards the kitchen counter and sat on one of the high chairs.
“I asked you who that James person is,” Hunter asked and Garie closed her eyes as she rubbed her forehead.
“I swear I will skin Levi alive. If he’s going to talk to you about me the least he can do is tell you everything. James is none other than lanky Zhang Jin Qiang.” Garie said while looking at James who tilted his head with the cute look on his face.
“Since when did he go with James?” Hunter asked.
“How would I know? Why don’t you ask him yourself?” Garie said and then she passed her phone to James.
“It’s Hunter.” She said.
James though confused, took the phone from Garie as she started eating the food prepared on the counter.
“Nĭ Hāo.”
“Jin Qiang? Is that really you?” Hunter asked.
James smiled as he glanced at Garie who was eating.
“Yes. I’ll be staying here in Kensington while I work in the hospital and still looking for a place of my own.” James told him.
“And you’re in my cousin’s apartment?” Hunter asked and James answered yes.
“I don’t think it’s appropriate, seeing that my cousin is a young woman while you are a man. I hope you are using the guest room and do not dare do anything inappropriate. Anyway, Levi will be coming there and I will try to come as well. We’ll solve the tablet altogether.” Hunter ranted that James didn’t have the chance to speak.
“I’ll see you soon,” Hunter said and then he hangs up.
James pulled the phone from his ear and hands it back to Garie.
“What did he tell you?” She asked.
“Uhm, he kind of ranted so fast that I didn’t catch them,” James said.
Garie sighed and drank water.
“Well, Levi is coming so he can check on the tablet up close since he cannot come up with something from the scans I sent him.” She told him.
“I think Hunter will come too.”
“I doubt that. He can’t leave his students alone for a long time. He’s a very dedicated educator.”
“I still think he will since he mentioned about me staying here with you.”
Garie paused chewing and looked at James. Then she swallowed the food and cleared her throat.
“Where is Feng Hu anyway? Isn’t he coming with us to the hospital?” She asked.
“No, it’ll be just us. Feng Hu never meddles with my work unless he is needed.” James answered as he starts eating as well.
“He should at least eat with us.”
“He will once he woke up. He loves his sleep better than food. But do you know what he loves the most?” James asked and Garie looked at him.
“You?” She answered and James chuckled.
“He loves money. If you want him to do something, you have to pay him up front. He carries a POS machine wherever he goes.” James told her and Garie cannot help but laugh.
“It looks like he would love Hunter.” She said and James chuckled.
“We should eat fast so we can leave for the hospital. The new hires are waiting.” She said and they continued to eat.
