Chapter 7- Duel Between Otis and A Knight

1384 Words
Otis challenged the knight, who is the strongest guard in the throne room. After being mocked by King Melvin. This duel's spectators were the other guards, the king, the bishop, Anne, Henry, and Medina. All of them were pretty skeptical about Otis winning. Even the guard that Otis challenged thinks that this fight was somewhat stupid. However, after hearing the sharp insult of Otis. The knight cannot let this opportunity go to punish Otis. For the guard, Otis should have kept being weak rather than replying that he would kill the knight. The two waited for seconds until the king spoke. “You two will fight upon my signal. Which is NOW!” The knight unsheathes his sword and slashes Otis. “You will know your place, you sharp-tongued snake.” *Swiiiiish* However, due to Otis's speed, he managed to evade the guard's attack. Using his body, Otis charges towards the knight; the scene of a small snake charging looked pathetic to the spectators. But when Otis reached the right foot of the knight. He bites it with his tiny mouth. The attack he did was, however, useless, as the guard wore thick leather boots. That Otis's teeth can't even penetrate. The guard raised his sword and pointed it to Otis's head. “Is this all you can do? Such a pathetic snake. It would help if you remained weak. Because right now, I do not care if you die in this duel. Cause you are just a pathetic, weak circus snake. I'm sure your owner would not care if you die.” The knight then plunges his sword towards Otis's head, who has been still nipping through his leather boots. But the knight did not know that Otis had planned this all along. When the tip of the sword got near Otis, he immediately dodges by slithering his entire body to the side. Because of this, the knight stabbed his foot with his sword. The knight screamed in pain after stabbing his foot. “Aaaaah!” The King and the other spectators were surprised by this sudden development. However, this unexpected scene somewhat entertained them. But for the knight fighting Otis, it was not entertaining at all. It was an embarrassment after all his talk about punishing Otis. Also, his pride as the current powerful guard in the room did not help him. The knight became enraged; his face turned completely red. The smoke even steamed above his head, and veins started appearing in his forehead and arms. Then he glared at Otis and yelled, “I'm going to kill you, right here! Right now!” The knight immediately pulls his sword. However, when he tried doing it, he felt something heavy. Almost similar to a boulder place in the hilt of his sword. The knight tried pulling his sword out once again. But like last time, it did not even budge an inch. “What's the problem, now? The most powerful guard can't remove his sword. Was that all talk when you said that you would defeat me?” Otis spoke in a cocky tone as he looks at the guard. “Is this your doing?” The knight asked as he glared at Otis. “Surrender and admit defeat. Then I will remove that sword of yours from your feet.” “So your magic-user, that is unexpected from a snake. However, when I remove this sword, I will turn you into— aaaaah!” The sword suddenly lowers down, deepening itself at the knight's foot. The Knight gritted his teeth and tried pulling it out once again, using his full strength. However, the knight was still unable to pull it out. Even how hard he tried, it still hasn't moved. The other guards look in horror as they witness this. But one of the spectators who was initially impressed became suspicious of Otis. This spectator was the bishop, as he knows what kind of magic Otis was using. The bishop then laid out his knowledge to Medina by whispering in her ear. “Young Cleric, we must be wary of that snake.” Medina whispered back to the bishop, “Why your holiness?” “That snake is using gravitational magic. And you know who are only capable of using such magic?” “Demons, unbaptized atheists, and demon-possessed heretics.” “Then you know what does that mean, Medina?” “He is an enemy of the church and must be cleaned at once. The bishop patter Medina and spoke, “Very good young Cleric, looks like your studies are paying off.” “I should go in and kill him then, your holiness.” The Bishop raised his hand in front of Medina, blocking her way as she was about to charge. “Not yet, Medina, we still need to observe this battle.” ‘What the hell is this magic! Why can't I pull my sword out? It feels like a boulder got placed above my sword's hilt.’ As the knight was questioning his current situation, the sword deepens. The blade was causing his wound to enlarge his damage in the process. The knight tried pulling it out, once again. Like before. He was still unsuccessful. Then Otis spoke once again to the knight, “Oh! I forgot to tell you that sword will go deeper each minute passes by. The only way you can remove it.” Otis had a smile on his face before continuing his speech. “You will only be able to remove it if you kneeled and beg like a pig in front of me.” “W-what!? There's no way I'm going to kneel in front of a stupid snake. A creature weaker than me!” “Suit yourself then. I will not care if your foot will be entirely cut. Disabling you to perform your knightly duties.” ‘If this man continues to persist against this attack. I would run out of mana before I could force him to submit. The magic I am using is gravitational magic that counters force by recreates the same amount of force that the target uses. Making anything to stay put and unable to move. However, it consumes a ton of mana if I add weight, which I used as a bluff to fool this knight. Not only that, but it also consumes mana while it is idle. ’ ‘It wouldn't be too long before. I will run out of mana and pass out. I can only add weight three times before I reached my limit to use that technique.’ “Surrender now, or...” “I will never do that! Especially in front of my king, A royal guard should be steadfast and will not bow down to anyone but the king! I will endure until I find a way to escape this magic of yours!” “That's enough!” The king yelled out loudly. “It is your win, snake. My knight concedes this fight.” The king added to his previous order. Otis immediately removes his magic from the knight. After that, the Knight was able to pull out his sword from his foot. When the guard pulled it out, his allies rushed towards him. They immediately treated his wound by letting him drink a healing potion. Then the sound of someone clapping echoed in the entire room. Everyone looked at the source of the sound and saw the king clapping. “I commend you for this victory, corn snake. I will take back my words of calling you weak. However, I will not apologize to you. But I guess my daughter has defeated me. So I will allow my daughter to go where ever she wants to go. In a condition that I will not provide any support financially.” The princess had a smile appear on his face after hearing the king, however, as the celebration was about to start between Henry, Claire, and Anne. The cleric that accompanied the bishop yelled, “I Medina Format! Challenge the snake who has defeated the royal guard.” Everyone turned their gazes at the Cleric after hearing her. The princess tried objecting. However, she stopped her father. After that, the king spoke once again, “This is an interesting turn of events; now I am intrigued.” The King looked at Otis and ordered, “Snake! I hereby order you to accept this woman's challenge. If you win, I will support your starter equipment. Plus, a month's worth of financial budget good for six people will be given.”
