Weeks go by as I watch for any chance to escape. I've honestly lost all hope for escaping.
I stand here in one of the hallways in my palace, watching the rain come down outside. I'm supposed to be cleaning the glass, but honestly I'm so tired. I'm so tired from even fighting anymore.
What's the point?! Like honestly, whats the f*****g point?! I think I've finally accepted that I'm ready to give up.
I watch the raindrops fall hard in the night sky, watering the beautiful land of the palace. The first quarter moon lit up the sky beautifully, as stars sparkled everywhere.
I haven't been outside in years. I’ve only been able to look out of windows, making life seem so cruel. I haven't felt the fresh air on my skin in forever. It breaks my heart that I'm starting to forget that feeling.
I see the reflection of my bruised and malnourished face in the window, wanting to break down and cry.
I don't even know who she is anymore.
I'm thrown from my thoughts of commotion coming down the hall. I tiptoed quietly and peaked my head around the corner. Beatrice was on the floor in the back foyer, drunk again. She had dropped the vodka bottle that was in her hand. Glass was all over the floor, along with a trail of blood from where she cut herself when she fell.
Just another night of Beatrice's drunk shenanigans.
"Take me to my room!" She yelled out drunkenly to the guard covering the back door of the palace.
The guard looked at her in annoyance and ignored her.
"Don't make me call my brother!” She was furious.
When she got that way, you knew not to mess with her. It’s better to just do what she says and avoid the problems.
"Fine!" He spat angrily.
The queen brought in new guards from goddess knows where. If you ask me, they're rogues. The way they conduct themselves just proves it too. They’re not easily controlled and I see that they really only listen to Jefferey.
But he isn’t King yet.
I try not to think about it much because supposedly my father was killed by rogues. When I think about it, that leads to me thinking Stephanie had something to do with his death. Or maybe they both did. Stephanie is just as bad as her son. I mean she did birth him after all.
It's hard to control my anger when I think about it, so I ignore it. I don't want to do something irrational and try and kill them while I'm powerless.
The guard walked through the glass, making a loud crunching sound. He picked up Beatrice, bridal style and carried her up the stairs towards her room.
I could see his eyes glaze over which means he probably mind linked somebody else to guard the door. Ever since this stupid bracelet was forced onto me, I lost my connection to the pack.
"RUN AURA! RUN!" A familiar voice in my head screamed out.
I couldn’t explain the feeling that came next. It was like my body moved before my thoughts. Without a second thought, I dropped the cleaning bottle and towel and ran towards the front door. I turned the handle and realized it was unlocked. I swung it open, feeling cold air hit me like a brick wall.
I was stunned by the fresh air, stopping me in my tracks.
"DON'T STOP!" Amethyst screamed out inside of my head.
My legs began moving, and I was now running through the wet grass in the back of the palace. The stars shone bright in the sky as the first quarter moon glared at me. Water splashed everywhere as the rain began to come down harder.
I couldn't comprehend what was really happening right now. My legs were moving faster than my thoughts. All I knew was that I couldn’t stop.
I reached the tree line and ran through the heavy forest as best as I could. Where do I go?! How am I gonna get past our territory?!
"Just keep running!" Amethyst yelled out again.
I ran as fast as my long frail legs could carry me. Loud howls resounded through the trees causing me to stop dead in my tracks.
Goddess they know!
I took back off running as fast as I could. If I'm dying tonight, I'm gonna die fighting!
As I'm running, I pass another tree line and come upon a mountain cliff, stopping dead in my tracks before I ran off of the cliff. Rick’s fell down as I stumbled to the ground, feeling my legs dangling from the cliff. I took a deep breath as I pulled myself up and looked over the rocky cliff.
Goddess I made it to the cliff already?! It's been so long since I've been outside, everything looks so different.
I looked over the ledge, over 500 feet down and saw raging river waters splash against the rocks of the mountain cliffs.
I start to panic.
Goddess what do I do?!
I began clutching the bracelet that suppressed my abilities, trying to rip it off somehow. I screamed out in agony at how painful it was trying to tear it off. It was like the bracelet was apart of my wrist now.
Two wolves popped out of the forest behind me, growling sinisterly. I jumped back, walking slowly.
Jefferey's chestnut brown wolf jumped out of the forest, snarling his teeth. He stalked me slowly, like prey. I felt the edge of the cliff below my feet. I looked down and saw that there was nowhere else to go. Tears fell down my face, as I braced for the inevitable.
"DO NOT GIVE UP AURA!" Amethyst roared out to me.
Jefferey snapped his jaw shut, snarling at me angrily.
In a flash he lunged at me with his sharp teeth aiming for my throat. Without a second thought, I defended myself, striking him in the face with all of the strength I had left. I was able to make contact with the side of his face, making him whimper in pain and stepping back.
The bracelet seemed to have connected with his snout, cutting him slightly. That was the best thing this bracelet has done for me.
My chest rose and fell rapidly as I looked at the wolves who were trying to kill me. Another wolf lunged at me, causing me to take a step back. What I didn't expect next was to fall off the cliff. My foot stepped off of the cliff, causing me to tumble backwards. As I fell off I tried to clutch the rocks any way I could, but the rigid form of the rocks ended up slicing the flesh on my hands open.
"AHHHHHHHHHH!" I screamed out terrifyingly as I fell through the air.
It was like everything was moving in slow motion at that point. I watched Jefferey's wolf gaze down at me as as I fell to my death off the cliff.
I closed my eyes as my body fell through the air. I was finally free and accepted that it was the end. All I could think about was my father, and my mother and how I would finally be with them.
"SPLASH!"
Everything went black.
