We followed the scent of the rogues who attacked the pack until the sun crept behind the horizon. Their scents faded as the natural elements took over, and we weren’t any closer to discovering the truth about these rogues.
I slowed my pace as the trail became almost indistinguishable. It had been dark for at least an hour, and if we didn’t turn back soon, we’d end up away from the pack all night. I was starting to think we had hit a dead end.
What’s going on? Aila linked. Her wolf slowed next to mine. Her bright red fur shimmered the same hue as her hair, even without the light.
I think we need to turn back. I kept the comment between Aila and myself. She had more leading experience than me, so I trusted her opinion on the matter. I didn’t need to worry the others.
