Hannah's p.o.v
This weekend flew by. We sold out by early afternoon each day, so we didn't have much to do but walk around and get to know people and get on the rides. Well, that is what I did with Peter. I met his sister Anabelle. She is 17 and taking care of him. It makes me think about when I was 17 and on my own. I couldn't imagine having to take care of someone else. My chest hurts thinking about Holden. He took care of me. He felt the way this young girl feels. Doing everything for someone else. Making sure they are taken care of. I miss Holden so much. I still hope I find him one day, soon. Mrs and Mr Danby and I spent the afternoon with them yesterday and they asked Anabelle to come with Peter to the church. I am so happy they are going to get help. I filmed a lot of my time with my new little friends and posted it to my channel. Everyone commented wanted updates on Peter and Annabelle. My followers are so sweet. People even asked if they can send them things.
I stare at myself in the mirror. I can not believe this is really me. I have learned to apply basic makeup and although Isabel wanted me to go to a salon, I think I did the damn thing all on my own. I am not sure what to expect of this event, but I look and feel pretty. I curled my hair and I am wearing red lipstick to match this beautiful red dress. It is strapless and has a slit on the left side and it pools all around me. I can't believe I am wearing something as delicate and beautiful as this. I paired it with some silver heels that are not too high. I am not used to wearing heels and I am afraid I might fall and break my face and embarrass Ledger and his family.
The one thing Isabel would not budge on is picking me up. I told her I would meet them at the event, but she said we all had to arrive together, so they told me to be ready at 7pm. It is now 6:57pm, so I hurry and go outside. I am not embarrassed that they will see where I live, or the neighborhood. I am also not allowing them inside my apartment. I don't care and I am not ashamed, but I don't want them asking questions so I was hoping to just meet them there, but Isabel wouldn't take that for an answer. She insisted and I just couldn't say no. She has been nothing but sweet to me since we met a couple of days ago. I already feel like I have known her for life, and I love when she talks about my mother. I love hearing all of her stories. Saying no to her will never happen.
A very fancy limo pulls up and I already know it is them. The car is very out of place in this neighborhood. People like them would never be in a place like this. The limo stops right in front of me and I am surprised when Ledger jumps out the back. I thought the driver would be the one to come and open my door like it happens in movies and television shows. "Hi" I say. "Hey" he says. He looks so handsome in is black suit. It fits perfectly to his body. His shirt is black, his shoes are black. The top buttons on his shirt are undone and he is not wearing a tie or a bow tie. It really works on him. I get in the limo and it is full of people. Isabel, some other man, papa who I now know his name to be Jace. I made sure to ask Mrs. Danby, because I wasn't sure if I would continue to call him papa. Maddox is here and so is that woman, Darcy. Full house. Ledger gets in and sits next to me. "Hello my dear" papa says. "Hello everyone" I say, so I don't have to greet everyone one by one. I already feel real nervous and everyone staring at me right now is making me even more nervous. At least Isabel and Maddox have a smile on their faces and I feel welcomed by them. Papa too, but he goes back to whatever he was reading.
Ledger's p.o.v
Hannah looks incredible. When we pulled up to the address she gave us, no when we got off the freeway and turned into this neighborhood, both dad and Darcy began complaining. Dad is upset with mom. He thinks she needs to get over Hannah and leave her where she found her. They kind of argued and then dad dropped it saying mom can entertain her, because we had to work the event. The look on mom's face lets me know that the only reason she isn't saying anything is because Darcy is here. When I got off to let her in, my mouth nearly fell to the floor. Mom got her a red dress and red really is her color. I just hate that she was standing out here looking beautiful. This neighborhood doesn't seem like a good one. At least it doesn't look it.
We are now sitting here, on the way to the event and I can't take my eyes off her. She is drop dead gorgeous. I can tell she is all natural. She isn't even wearing a lot of makeup, besides those red lips. Red lips that I want wrapped around my c.."Ledgie, do you want to be the one to represent Pollack Tech tonight? I can let you take over everything since dad and Jason want to merge in certain parts of the company and I know how much you like being in charge," Darcy says, pulling my attention away from Hannah, which is probably a good thing. I don't want her to think I am a creep. I look at Darcy and notice the smirk on her face. Before I can answer her though, Papa does. "Ledger is the new CEO of Slade enterprises and that is who he will represent. You can represent your family's little tech company," he tells Darcy. I don't miss the look dad gives him, but no-one says anything.
"So Hannah, you live in a pretty sh!tty neighborhood" Maddox does not bite his tongue. "It isn't so bad" she answers with a smile on her face. "Looks like a dump," dad comments. "Jason" Mom says. The beautiful smile on Hannah's face never vanishes. "Yeah, it might not be a lot for some people, but I was able to move in when I turned 18, after working and being able to save up for a down p*****t. It isn't bad at all." she says. Mom looks at her with so much pride and adoration. "Where do you work?" Maddox is asking all of the right questions. "A bakery, right?" Mom says. Hannah nods. "Yes and no. I mostly just clean the place." she says. "So you are a maid", Darcy snorts. "I go to school during the day and clean the bakery at night, or once it closes." she says. "Wow, that's amazing. You are a very busy young woman I see." Papa tells her. "What are you going to school for?" Maddox asks her. "Business, accounting and management:" she says. He nods, clearly impressed too. I know I am. She just got out of foster care and is already working hard all on her own. She doesn't have parents who help her the way we do. "Hopefully that helps you in the future. With those degrees, I am sure the Slade's will feel sorry for you and give you a position at their company" Darcy says, laughing. "Actually, I already have plans of what I will do with my degree. I am not looking for a job at the Slade company or anywhere else." she says. "How are you paying for school? I am sure a bakery job isn't enough to pay for everything, although that place you call home can't be worth much," dad says. "Dad" I say, warning him to back off. Hannah lifts her hand to stop me from talking. Anyone else would know better than to ever do that, but Hannah doesn't know me, and I actually don't mind. "You are right. I actually also do social media and have quite a following that gets larger every day. I get paid for my videos." she says. "Like porn?" dad asks, looking appalled. He even eyes her with disgust. "No, no way. I get paid to promote products and different companies and I just post about my daily life and things that I like to do. People seem to relate and want to hear what I have to say." she says, shrugging. Mom is just taking it all in with a huge smile on her face. "Wow, people relate to being poor" Darcy scoffs. "Darcy, have some manners." Mom says. I can tell Hannah is getting uncomfortable. Darcy and dad are rude and way out of line. Luckily, we arrive, so all of the questions end.
