However, this was not how Nyrissa wanted any or all of that to happen. It was excessively tempting to take their offer just to have everything she had ever wanted. But for some reason, it felt like cheating.
“Can I think about this?" Nyrissa finally said.
“Yes, of course. Take all the time you need!" Ryan stated.
“Thank you," she said, then began to move away from the table and grabbed for her phone, only to remember it was in her briefcase.
“If you'll give me my case, I'll call a cab and get out of your hair for the night," Nyrissa told them as she stood up.
Quentin pushed out of his chair and put his hand on her arm. “Don't be ridiculous. You can stay here tonight. It's not like we don't have plenty of room."
“No, really. It's okay," Nyrissa insisted, not sure if this was where she wanted to be right now.
Ryan stood and put his hand on her other arm, boxing her in a bit. Nyrissa's heart started pounding so hard, being stuck between both of them. It took all her strength not to reach out and touch one… or both of them. Ohhh wow… the wine really was getting to her.
“We insist. We can discuss this more tomorrow or even the next day," Ryan said to her.
His voice was low and a bit husky, sending tiny shivers down her spine. The shivers got stronger and more pronounced when Quentin stepped up behind her. Nyrissa didn't know if they had planned this or if it was an accident. But the men's scent surrounded her, and every breath she took was coated in their smell. Musky, masculine scent and their deep rich cologne mix into an intoxicating aphrodisiac. She began to close her eyes and breathe it in, wanting to get closer to them both, wanting more.
“Nyrissa?" Ryan spoke, shattering the spell she was under.
Nyrissa's eyes flew open, and she quickly stepped out from between them. Noticing they both had matching concerned looks.
“Sorry, I think I drank way too much wine," she murmured, not wanting to admit the truth.
She breathed a sigh of relief when they both seemed to accept her explanation. Quentin waved his arm to the hallway once more.
“Let me show you to your room. Or rather, what will be your room when you accept our offer," Quentin commented a little arrogantly.
“I haven't decided if I will accept," Nyrissa said with a small laugh.
Quentin looked over his shoulder with his cocky grin as he led her up the right-hand staircase.
“Yet…" Quentin said.
He took her into a wing of the house with several rooms that mostly looked like bedrooms. However, there was a sitting room and a small kitchen as well. It really was its own area of the house. She could literally live in this area and never have to see them.
Quentin stopped outside a massive room with its own sitting area as well. Awestruck, Nyrissa just stood there, trying to process everything, then looked toward Quentin. He was patiently waiting for her to enter the room.
“You seem so sure that I'll accept the agreement," Nyrissa pointed out.
“You would honestly be stupid not to. However, I know you are far from stupid," Quentin said, running his fingers down her cheek.
He stepped away and wished her a cordial goodnight as if nothing had happened, then headed back downstairs. Nyrissa watched as he walked away, enjoying the sight of his backside cupped in the tight jeans a little more than she really should have.
“Snap out of it, Nyrissa," she told herself, giving her head a quick shake before heading into the room.
It was perfectly decorated with pale pinks, yellows, and cream-colored. The cream-colored furniture was perfectly placed around the sitting room, and there was a large cabinet that, when opened, was a big-screen television. It was meant to blend in with the rest of the furniture and not be an eye-catcher.
The bedroom was decorated in the same fashion, and the large, four-post bed had a large curtain that could be pulled around the bed to block out the light.
It was all perfect, amazing…
Insane.
This whole situation was insane. There was no way she could even consider saying yes. But honestly, how could she turn it down? They had offered her everything on a silver platter, and all she had to do was....
Marry them BOTH and give them an heir...
No, that was crazy.
Polygamy was illegal! And a child! Good god, she had always wanted a family, but she was still fighting for her sister. How could she even think of starting a family until she had the rest of her own? How could she even consider saying yes?
But she was…
Nyrissa couldn't even believe she was even considering it. It was crazy… insane… too much…
But she was…
Unable to sit still, she jumped up and looked through all the doors around the room until she found exactly what she was looking for.
The bathroom.
Like everything else around the house, the room was enormous and housed a huge jacuzzi tub. Off to the right was a shower stall, which was almost a letdown from the tub in the middle of the room. But she really didn't care. She could take a nice, long, hot soothing bath, then go to bed and look at everything fresh in the morning. Maybe she would take them up on their invitation and stay the weekend with them.
It couldn't hurt!
Turning on some soothing music, she forced every thought out of her mind. She relaxed in the tub until every spot on her body was bright red from the heat of the water, and her body felt boneless.
She pulled herself out of the tub, dried off, and hummed along with the music feeling incredibly relaxed. That was until she laid down on the bed to try and get to sleep. The unfamiliar surroundings and unfamiliar sheets suddenly brought the whole situation back to the forefront of her mind. Her attempt at sleep had become elusive now.
After an hour of tossing and turning, she gave up. Throwing the blankets to the side angrily, she jumped off the bed before pacing around the room. However, even that was not enough. The suddenly tiny room felt like it was closing in on her, and she knew she had to get out.
She quickly grabbed her skirt and put it on under her shirt but refused to put her shoes on. She cracked the door and looked down the hallway. But she couldn't see anything of significance. They had either gone to bed or, this explanation was more likely, she was way too far away from them.
Even though Nyrissa was absolutely sure she was too far away, she still felt the need to tiptoe around. The doors around her were still propped open, and she couldn't stop herself from peeking inside them.
After all, this was going to be her home… right?
Ugh.
Each room had its own decoration, but they were all immaculately amazing. Nyrissa's personal favorite was the study. It had an old-world feel to it, and the amount of books on the shelves blew her mind and made her hands itch. She wasn't sure if she would ever be able to read all of them, but she really wanted to try.
Nyrissa passed every shelf at eye level to her reading every title. Most of the books she recognized as some of the ones their company had published. It was sweet to see that they supported their own authors enough to display their books in their personal library. Of course, Nyrissa had read many of them, wanting to keep up with the books they were selling since that was one of her main areas of work. But she hadn't expected to see Ryan and Quentin giving them so much support.
She picked out one of the few books she hadn't read and headed back to the hallway. When she made her way to the double stairwell, Nyrissa paused, trying to figure out what to do.
Her curiosity was massive as she looked down the left end of the hallway and realized that Ryan and Quentin's area had to be in front of her.
She bit her lip and wanted to go forward so badly. But she wasn't sure if she should. She didn't even have to wonder if it was a huge invasion of privacy, but that didn't really make her want to stop.
Even as her mind was screaming not to do it, her feet still moved forward. The first few rooms were almost a mimic of the ones on her end, but the next few were giant studies. One must be Ryan's and the other Quentin's, she realized as she noted the differences in the rooms.
However, it was the sound of whispers that really caught her attention. Ryan and Quentin were not asleep, and… she heard a deep moan and felt her knees begin to tremble. She knew what that sound was, and it hit her in the gut... HARD.
