I didn't bother calling my family, I figured I'd just show up. I hadn't spoken to them since this bullshit started, I didn't want them to know how miserable I was. Atticus had upheld his end of the deal, and my pack lands had been protected through all of the nonsense, but I figured it would only be a matter of time before he pulled out now.
I had been driving for a couple of hours and stopped for gas. It was a tiny little town, kinda creepy, and the cashier kept staring at me like I was going to steal something. I paid for my gas and some snacks and went back to my truck, leaving as quick as I could.
