Chapter 5

*Sterling's POV*

I couldn't believe it, Jasper was my mate. I had already committed every inch of his face to memory during our short time together when we first found one another.

I was staring at him dreamily when I heard his deep voice speak to the group we were standing with.

"Alpha Nathan, Alpha Jackson '' he spoke nodding to each alpha individually. We stood side by side, fingers interlaced. I could hold this man's hand forever, among other things.

"He's perfect for us, and he wants us" my wolf Rose practically sang in my head, prancing and purring away. I smiled inwardly at her comments. He did seem pretty perfect.

"And how's our little Sterling?" I heard Alpha Nathan say to me. Nathan and Nicole were like my aunt and uncle, we are not blood related. Nathan is one of dad's longest friends.

"I'm wonderful, beyond wonderful" I said looking up at Jasper briefly before letting go of his hand and giving hugs to those in the group I knew personally.

The harborwoods head trainer James was standing beside Alpha Nathan, he was sizing me up. It was pretty common knowledge that he along with many other packs didn't approve of me leading Briarwood. Something about old traditions and females aren't strong enough yadda, yadda, yadda. I had heard it all before and honestly I was sick and tired of it.

Dad seemed to notice James's reaction to me, they definitely didn't see things the same way, which is fine not everyone had to believe in the way we did things, but as the future Luna they would have to accept it.

"Isn't it wonderful?" Dad said out loud.

"Well at least the future leader of your pack will be a well trained warrior" James retorted.

"Indeed a warrior how lucky. But, what's more important is my little princess has found her fated mate." Dad almost snapped back. He didn't like it when people undermined me, and it happened frequently outside of our pack.

Missy and Hunter started making eyes at each other, I wondered probably the same as everyone else, which was would Missy be the next Harborwoods Luna.

"Alpha Jackson?" I heard Jasper speak again.

"Yes, son?" Dad answered calmly. He treasured the mate bond, and since the moon goddess had paired me with Jackson, dad would respect him. He would have respected anyone I was paired with, but I have to admit even to myself him being a warrior was wonderful.

"May I escort Sterling on a walk around the pack's garden?" Jasper asked, his beautiful green eyes had lit up his entire face. He was smiling brightly, he had flawless white teeth but I could feel he was nervous about what my dad was going to say.

My dad being who he was just laughed, he almost looked like he was going to double over.

When he finally calmed his laughter he spoke. "Of course young man, take all the time you need to get properly acquainted."

"Why don't we head inside Jackson, James and discuss the pack matters at hand." Nathan said, smiling over at me and Jasper. Hunter and Missy began to wander off in the direction of the pack house chatting away with each other. I had to giggle at just how cute they looked together.

My dad, Alpha Nathan, Luna Nicole and James followed the younger two. I knew the Rogue situation was getting out of hand, Dad and Nathan we're trying to figure out a better way to handle them.

"Ready?" Jasper asked, wrapping his strong arm around my waist and pulling me closer to him. He bent down, inhaling my scent and gave me a soft kiss on the top of my head.

"Lead the way," I replied. With that, we headed off to wander the garden.

I could feel the mate bond growing strong with every minute we spent together. If it was like this after just an hour of knowing each other, I couldn't wait to see what it would blossom into.
