I didn't know how Marlene would respond when she found out the truth about me, but I had expected her initial response to seeing me in my wolf form. She had been terrified, and it had hurt to see her so afraid of me; I just thought it was easier to reveal myself that way than attempting to explain when there was no chance she would believe me. She screamed and ran to the top of the stairs as if I would attack her if she didn't get away. I couldn't blame her for reacting that way; I hadn't given her any warning beyond telling her I wasn't human, and I knew that she had turned around expecting to find a mentally ill human huddled in the corner.
