Layla POV
Layla woke slowly, her foggy brain only vaguely wondering why her bed felt so deliciously warm. She wished she could sleep in, the thought of leaving this warmth making her groan. Opening one eye to peek at her alarm clock, she noticed it was six in the morning and groaned again, slumping back into her pillows.
“What’s wrong?” Drake’s voice startled her for a second; in the morning haze that kept her brain from working properly, she’d forgotten he was there. At least she now knew why her bed was so much warmer than usual. It would also explain why she’d slept so well.
“Oh, nothing,” she responded after getting over her shock. She turned to face him, wincing a bit at how sore she was from their activities last night. Damn, but that had been amazing. It was kind of crazy to her, as the females who had had s*x before their mates said that only true mates could get it right. Otherwise they either didn’t get off on it, or hadn’t truly experienced an orgasm until they met their mate. Yet, Drake wasn’t her mate, and he’d elicited feelings from her that she never thought possible, even with a mate. “I just really don’t want to move,” she confessed with a giggle. “But I’ve got training for the pack at seven, and I have to be there early.”
“Ah, right,” Drake said, yawning and stretching. Layla drank in the sight of his muscles pulling taut, her body sparking with desire despite how sore she was. “Well, we should probably both get ready then.” He scented the air suddenly, before looking at her with that mischievous grin that told her he was thinking very dirty thoughts…again. “Hmm, not even up for five minutes and already you’re wet for me.”
She blushed and looked away before mumbling, “It’s not my fault you’re still naked under my blankets.”
He laughed. “First, you’re also naked under these blankets. Second, you aren’t the only one ready to go, and third, it actually is kinda your fault I’m still naked and in your bed.” She swung her head around to look at him in confusion. “After we f****d each other into oblivion,” he started, chuckling as she blushed yet again, “you kind of ended up falling asleep on me.”
Layla was fairly sure that her face was practically glowing red at this point. She certainly hadn’t meant to trap him into staying over. She’d figured that him staying or her “making” him stay was a violation of their agreement to keep emotion out of the equation. Did he think her mistake meant she was developing feelings towards him? She certainly hoped not. Yes, she did like him, and she did find it a little strange that she barely knew the guy, yet she trusted him implicitly, but it wasn’t like she was in love with him. At that thought, some part of her whispered that she could be, given enough time. She did her best to shake that voice away. No, she couldn’t let that seed be planted. She and Drake were just having fun. Nothing more, nothing less. Instead of thinking about it all further, she said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to trap you here.”
“No problem,” he grinned. “I’m sure you were simply exhausted after last night. Besides, I’m not opposed to cuddling. It’s actually a bit easier to sleep when I’m not alone, anyways.”
“Okay, I just didn’t want you to think I planned that or something.”
“Not really, considering you conked out pretty much right after laying your head on my chest. Plus, I wasn’t much better. I fell asleep pretty much right after you.”
“Well, we’re definitely good at tiring each other out,” she laughed.
“Oh, we’re good at a lot more than that. Also, you’re free to tire me out any time you want,” he winked, causing her to laugh again. He kissed her gently, just wanting to taste her. As he pulled away, she saw that fire in his eyes, but it was quickly extinguished when he lifted his head to peer at her clock. “But as much as I wish we had time to have a little fun, I think we should get ready.”
She sighed, covering her eyes with her arms. “What time is it?” She raised her arm slightly to look at him when he didn’t respond. Of course he was grinning. That’s all he seemed to do around her. So much for the grumpy ass everyone kept describing.
“Aw, is the big, tough commander afraid of looking at the time?” he joked, earning himself a smack across the face with a pillow. “Oh, someone’s sassy this morning.”
“I’m the sassy one? Ha!” With that, she hit him with her pillow again before getting out of bed. He followed, and when she saw his naked body in its full glory, including his completely erect p***s, she squeaked and turned around quickly, pressing her hands against her heated cheeks. “Warn a girl, would ya?!” she exclaimed.
“Really?” He was laughing heartily at her reaction, to the point he had to grab the edge of the bed as he held his stomach. “We literally just had s*x last night!”
“Doesn’t mean I’m used to just seeing…you,” she grumbled, her cheeks aflame.
His laugh slowly faded into small chuckles. “You are such an adorable little prude,” he said when he’d finally caught his breath again.
“Oh shut it.” Seriously, how weren’t her cheeks just burning right off her face? And she was pretty sure her insane blush had extended to the tips of her ears. Damn, this was embarrassing. “Get your clothes on and go get ready.”
He walked up behind her just as she was about to head to the closet to get her own clothes. He pulled her still naked hips to his own, his rock-hard shaft pressing against her ass in a way that stole her breath away. “You see what you do to me?” he said, softly growling in her ear. “I know how much you want it, my little wolf. I can smell your desire perfuming the air.” He breathed deeply through his nose before pressing his lips ever so lightly on her neck, drawing a low moan out of her. “But business first. And if you’re a good little wolf, I may just surprise you tonight.” With that, he nipped her neck lightly and strode away, making her gasp at the sudden loss of his hot body against her own.
She seemed to be frozen in her spot as she listened to the minute sounds of him putting on his clothes. When she heard him begin to leave, she turned her head towards him and, with a playful glint in her eyes that couldn’t mask the heat that still burned in their depths from his unfair games, simply said, “You’re an evil man, Alpha Drake.”
His laughter followed him all the way into his room, causing her grin to grow even wider.
