While graduation was a relatively smooth journey, it was during her post-graduation that she confronted the real challenge of gender bias in names. She discovered the pervasive belief that names are inherently linked with gender. Utmostly, she realized that her name is associated with males rather than females. Interestingly, Neeraj's father hails from Punjab, and it is ironic that Punjab, a state, has a troubling history of female foeticide. A friend who had recently undergone a name change guided her through the entire process. Despite serious consideration and discussions with her family, Neeraj eventually decided against changing her name. Her father, in particular, opposed and dismissed the idea without further debate.
