Word for the day - 아들 (Romanised as 'A-deul') - Son ##### EMERALD’S POV ---- “Why are you steering like a madwoman?” I asked Miranda who seemed to be in a completely unusual zone. She ignored me and I sighed. I looked away and let her drive to wherever she wanted to take me. I couldn't comprehend what was going on in her mind. She was never like this. Her seriousness was making me more intrigued by her actions but I allowed her to do what she wanted. I peeked down at my phone that lit up. I had received a mail, for confirmation of the acceptance of the job and contract. I just reminded myself to do it later because I was again feeling nausea. I just laid back on the seat and breathed. I wanted to know whatever it was and get cured because it was a lot for me already. When I glanced at Miranda's concentrated expressions, I somehow felt like she had an idea about what was going on but I couldn't seem to converse with her at the moment. “M, I still want to…” I trailed off but she only frowned at me. I was taken aback by her seriousness and I just sighed, dozing off in the process. ----- “Em, wake up.” I was being shaken and I peeled my eyes open to see Miranda hovering over me as she had pulled the door open. She plucked the seatbelt and helped me out. “I wanted to go and have some scotch tonight,” I commented and she turned to glare at me as she was pulling me. “Miranda! Can you let me know what’s going on?” I yelled at her feeling frustrated with her actions. I was feeling too suffocated because I was not able to converse or retort anything. I hated this ruling over me. “Do not get angry, Emerald.” She warned me and I just nodded, listening to her even though I didn't want to. She went to the receptionist and talked to her, while I waited still feeling frustrated over her ruling me. I could only understand how she must feel when all the time I do that to her but I can assure you I wasn’t that harsh. Maybe rude and arrogant but not in such a way. “Emerald, why are you crying?” Miranda questioned with a worried face and I gave her a confused glance. “Bullshit,” I muttered but it came out in a sob. I touched my face and sure enough, there was the wetness of salty tears upon my hand. “What the…” I started but Miranda hugged me. She caressed my back and I just hummed, as if her message and comfort had reached me. “Let’s go and we can get all the answers.” She explained and I nodded. She guided me with her and I walked without a question. As we walked in the corridor, I read the name of the ward we were walking in. “Gynaecologist?” I questioned and she nodded. Before I could ask any more questions, she knocked on the door. The person on the other side permitted us to enter. We both walked in and saw a woman probably in her forties with streaks of white hair, sitting there with much pride in her eyes. I read the name board as ‘Vanessa Walls’. “Hello, Mrs…uhm…Miss Lance.” She said as she read on the computer. I perked up at my name being called. “So, what are your symptoms?” She asked me directly and I just blinked at her. I was still processing that we were in a Gynaec's cabin so I couldn't even answer what she asked me. “She has been throwing up and even felt dizzy once. She’s been getting moody and also been craving a lot.” Miranda was the one who answered for me and I only nodded in response. “Okay, I believe those sure pose a sign but we can’t be sure until we test it. Are your periods late?” Mrs Walls asked me and I checked my phone to see the date. I shook my head when I realised that wasn't the case. “They should be here in two days. I have a regular cycle.” I informed her and she nodded. “Then why have you rushed so fast, Miss Lance?” She asked and I shook my head, pointing to Miranda. I was still in a daze. “Doctor, please just check her. I’m very suspicious that she is… pregnant. I want you to do a blood test and send us the report. She had s*x three weeks ago.” Miranda blabbered and I hiccuped. “Pregnant?” I whispered and they both ignored me. “It’s still too early to detect. I’ll take the blood and send it for a test. You’ll find out in two days. If it is not detected because it’s too early, you can know because of your delayed period or you can come back next week. Four weeks is easily traceable.” She advised and we both nodded. “Have you been drinking in this period?” She questioned and I nodded. She put the syringe in my arm, pulling out enough blood for the test. “Already five times, in a good amount,” I answered, feeling embarrassed. She wiped my arm with cotton and placed a sticker on it. I felt a little pain but nothing compared to what was going on in my head. “I believe that’s a lot if you’re indeed pregnant. Do avoid drinking until you’re sure of it.” She advised and I nodded. “You have to bear the cautiousness until your results come out because I couldn’t prescribe you any medicine, without being sure.” She informed me and I nodded. “Please deliver the reports soon then.” I requested and she nodded. “Either way, I will see you in a week, Miss Lance.” She ended our conversation. We both nodded and stood up to leave. We bid her a polite goodbye before coming out of the room. My hand landed on my stomach where I couldn’t feel any difference right now. It was only a faint doubt. “Why didn’t you inform me earlier?” I asked and she shook her head. “I didn’t want you to worry. If you are indeed pregnant, you have to be careful, Em. Things won’t be easy.” She expressed and I nodded. “I understand this is a big responsibility but I have no idea how we came to this. We had used protection.” I muttered, dumbfounded. “You can be ‘Ross’ and call the company.” Miranda joked and I chuckled, shaking my head in denial. “You know who the father is?” She questioned and I gulped. “A hot stranger named Aiden whom I’m trying to chase but know nothing about,” I answered and glanced at her with worried eyes. She pulled me into a hug. Please meet me once again. I prayed. “Let’s go now. You haven’t had lunch and you should be eating, no matter if you are pregnant or not.” Miranda educated and I nodded. We both walked out and walked to the car. Miranda insisted that she’d drive and I agreed. I wasn’t in a state to drive, either way. I sat in the car and another car passed us. It was a black Range Rover that’s why my eyes stuck to it. “Em, do you want anything else? I was thinking of picking up some Starbucks.” Miranda muttered and my eyes left the car and turned to her. “If things are true, I’m not allowed coffee. I’d take some white drink with a chocolate pastry.” I illustrated and she nodded, starting the car. My eyes turned back to the car but it was already parked. Two men walked out. One was in a suit who was younger and he was holding an old grandpa in a sweater. I could only see their backs but it felt so familiar. I wanted to see more but we were already driving away. I sighed and sat back, thinking about how to find Aiden if what we predicted was true. ----- “Em!” I heard a call and glanced at Miranda who walked in. I was petting Grammy and talking to him about all my worries and Aiden while Miranda came in. “Don’t worry, too much. Right now, you need to worry about what you’ll do tomorrow and what you will wear on your first day at the office.” Miranda proclaimed to enlighten the atmosphere and I nodded. I shouldn’t be worried about something I wasn’t completely sure about. Either way, I had to wait to know what it was. And if it was true, worrying may be harmful. “I agree with your point. What do you think I should wear for the office? I have my dress for tomorrow, already.” I informed her and she hummed. “Should we go with something traditional or bold?” She asked and I hummed while thinking about it. “Something smashing,” I answered and she squealed. “What about a black sexy number?” She winked and I chuckled. “What do you think, Grammy?” I asked and he meowed. “Your 아들 agrees,” Miranda muttered and I chuckled. “What my son says goes,” I announced in a Royal accent and we both laughed. “By the way, did you search for that CEO?” She asked and I sighed but something clicked. “Good you reminded me. Let me settle some important documents and then we can search together.” I said and kept Grammy on the bed, before rushing to the table. I switched on my MacBook Pro and opened the mail. I read through the mail and sent the files I was asked to, too. I read the contract where they had a bond of two years. I was hesitant but I knew that it was my dream company to work at. So, I signed the contract and sent it. I still had to sign one physical copy on the first day but this was the confirmation. “M, come here. We’ll search for the CEO.” I called and whirled to look at her but she had dozed off while holding Grammy in her arms. I chuckled but twirled to the laptop. I did search for him. Now that I was an employee, it was only fair that I’d have a good knowledge of the company I'd be working with. CEO of Kingstons and Co. I searched. It came out with a lot of results but no photo. There sure were pictures but none of his. I finally found an article and opened it. “Mister Keane Kingston, CEO of Kingstons and Co. is finally back in New York to handle KAC. Now that the elite bachelor is back in town, his motives are still unknown. For the last six years when he continued to spread the Corp in London, no one knew he came back home. But now that he has, we should be waiting to finally catch a picture of him strolling in New York.” I murmured and read the whole news about him and how he managed such a successful empire at a young age. After reading, I sure felt like he was a very capable and talented man. I wondered now that I was going to work there, I’d be able to see this man. I respected him. I always felt good reading or knowing about people who had cultivated themselves into astonishing people. I would be sure to meet you, Keane Kingston. ----- I woke up in the morning... no, ran up in the morning. I felt puke coming out which made me wake up earlier than I wished to. I vomited what all I could and my gagging noise must have woke Miranda up because she was caressing my back. “It’s okay.” She kept muttering and continuing to caress my back. When I finally felt done, I tapped her hand that was resting on my shoulder and she pulled me up. I didn't say a word neither did she. We both were just trying to wrap our heads around the situation. There was a huge possibility that this vomit wasn't just a regular upset stomach vomit which made me feel grave about it. We walked towards the sink and I glanced at myself. I looked sick and pale. I splashed water on my face a few times and gargled the icky taste of the vomit. I ended up rinsing my mouth twice and brushing my teeth. “You better?” Miranda asked and I nodded. Miranda, next to me, also started brushing her teeth. “I’m starting to believe the prediction might be true,” I muttered when I finally was hit with a situation and she gave me a worried glance.
