MILDRED SOUR GRAPES Chase stood in the middle of the living area, his attention was on his phone as his golden hair fell slightly forward. He was tall and handsome in a manner that warmed my heart just to think he was on my team. He wanted to be friends with me. His eyes swayed from his phone to where I stood by the landing, hesitating to head towards Enid's home office. Two things were involved: either Enid barked and went wild with rage for me attempting to leave his room or he would respect his friend's decision to let me out of that prison. Chase wore a jocular smile on his face which was quite infectious making me smile and wiping all the hesitations from me. I sucked in a breath and headed to get my husband for breakfast. A part of me prayed Enid wasn't in his home office
