21 The pair left the drafty hall and Allie gladly followed Drifter into the parlor, a large room situated at the front of the house. There were no drafts caused by golems, but the hearth was as cold as ice and a chill lingered in the air. Drifter knelt before the dark hearth and soon had a fire starting with a bit of kindling. Allie gladly rested on her knees before the growing flames and stretched out her hands toward the warmth. Drifter kept his gaze on the hearth as he spoke. “Your hands are shaking.” She shrugged. “I’m not used to being attacked by vampires and golems in a single day.
