Thoughts flickered across Lady Douglas’ mind before she shook off her ruminations. “Where did you glimpse the creature?”
“About a mile down the road and nearly a mile into the woods.”
His lady scoured the area and furrowed her brow. “I sent six of you out and one had already returned. Where are the other two?”
“They remained with your husband whose animal was failing, My Lady,” the man explained as he pursed his lips. “They were in the deep snow of the roads while we followed the trail into the woods.”
“And have you no better description than it being a behemoth?” she wondered.
