Chapter Two Kristie’s breath caught in her throat. She remembered the last time she had seen Gray, when he’d told her he never cared about her. She’d been so scared that he was going to go to jail for the death of someone he hadn’t actually killed. The night they had spent together flashed before her eyes as well, unbidden, images of their limbs entangled as he moved inside of her. She shut her eyes briefly and then opened them to watch Gray walk toward her. It was as if no one else was there. The room only held the two of them.
