Jason glanced at his commander with a cautious smile. “No, there’s not. Can’t exactly send anyone up to replace us, can they?”
Just the possibility that he could be free with his love and affection for John made their situation less heavy to deal with. They had talked about it, getting married once they were down and deskbound at NASA. It was a future Jason strived for, his new dream after this one had been guaranteed.
What a joke. True, he was happy to be alive, happy John was with him, but to live through the destruction of their planet and have to sit back and watch made him sick to his stomach. And his other dream was now forever out of reach.
