The Undesired Battle

Ophelia rushed on windows along with the others who don’t really have the power to fight, like children. In front of their eyes, they see they are being attacked by armed forces, but they aren’t associated with any of the police from the government, judging from their uniforms. They were all black with masks too, they seem like terrorists if taken without context. They are trying to break the barrier. It made Miss Eve hold on to her chest and breathes deeply.  “What is happening, Miss Eve?” Ophelia is already worrying. “Who is attacking us?” In her face, you can see fear slowly building up. “Is it because of me? Are they after me?” The lady shook her head. “This is the same group that attacked us a year ago, they are not stopping until they get us. Please handle the others here, I need to do something. If you may excuse me…” She left the room, Ophelia sensed something’s wrong with her. She granted the lady’s request to watch for the others and make them calm. “Stay calm everyone.” She leads the children in the living room and lets them play to let their worries go away. The others relaxed to prevent from breaking down, but inside, they are all worried.  On the other hand, Thilda and others started to line up around the hotel. Since the barrier is still not broken, the attackers are still trying to break it. “Don’t engage in combat without them being in the barrier, you might get injured. They have guns, they can shoot us in the distance.” Thilda instructed them. “To all that can hit them in a distance, you can weaken their forces. To those who can’t just stay and prepare.” They all nod.  “Since we only have 3 healers, we can’t just get reckless or we will lose this. I just hope Miss Eve can hold this more. I can’t afford another one of us to fall. Go!” They run to their positions and are prepared to fight if ever the barrier fall and breaks.  While they are at it, Blaise starts to put some of his gadgets to use for the defense and starts placing them around the hotel. He puts some micro mines around the buildings. “Hey! Don’t go outside, okay? There are dangerous mines here.” He told one little girl who was gonna step outside the door, “Say it to others.” The girl nods and rushes inside the building. He continues to place other gadgets to at least help in the resistance. He gave some emergency weapons to those who will defend, like smoke bombs to distract enemies. He entered some buildings and gave weapons to those who are old enough to manage the situation. “Here.” He tossed a net shooter to Ophelia. She caught it, she almost fell to the ground, the others were right, she’s weak and feeble. “What is this?” She looks at him, confused. “A net shooter, shoot it and you—” He was shocked when he felt something touched his body and electrocuted him, just enough to make him fall asleep. “—shoot an electrifying net…” He falls to the ground which made the teenage girl gasp. The others were planning to approach him to help him out. Ophelia stopped them, “Don’t, the net might electrocute you guys too.” “I cannot be electrocuted, let me help him.” A male volunteered as he holds the net and sets it aside. The others have the strength to carry him to the sofa and let him rest. “I am sorry for being careless. Is anyone here can heal or something?” “Well, all of the healers are outside, we only have 3 healers this time and the ones who are defending the hotel need them.” A female girl with some ram horns on her head explained to her. “Let’s just hope that the electrifying stun he acquired didn’t really put him into a comatose.” Ophelia sighed as she looks at the stairs in front of them. “Let’s be ready, we don’t know if they will reach here or not, but let’s hope for the best.” Well, the only thing they can do is hope that the barrier won’t fall, that’s the least they can do for the hotel. Speaking of the barrier, on the third floor of the main building, in its hallways, Hugo was standing in front of the door who seems to wait for someone. Well, he isn’t actually waiting for someone. He is guarding and watching Miss Eve, who was in the room. She was trying to save the barrier from falling, since its’ her magic that makes the barrier. She is balancing between the magic she gave in and the magic she reserves, since she can’t give it all or she will collapse, which will not help and just worsen the situation. She needs a decent amount of magic to keep the barrier intact, it goes the same as keeping her conscious while doing this. She was sitting on the floor with her legs crossed, her hands on the lap and her eyes closed. She needs to at least protect them for a little while, even just a minute. She knows she can’t handle it anymore. Thilda and others start attacking while inside the barrier to minimize the damage, they can injure some of the enemies and the best is killing them. They are at their best moment before the barrier collapsed, they hope that it won’t, but they know that Miss Eve can’t take this for an hour. The enemies are damaging the barrier too, making them work harder for the lady. Miss Eve grunts every time and also bending like she is being punched. She is starting to feel the pain from the damage the barrier receives from the attacks of the enemy. Her face is starting to scrunch up. Some of her grunts were heard by Hugo, who quickly checked on her silently. He quietly approached the area of the lady, trying not to disturb her as he looks at her situation. He knows in his mind that anytime the lady can just collapse along with the barrier. He quietly exits the room and went to a nearby window.  He saw one of the fighters who was a girl who seems like an archer. “Hey!” He shouted that made her look at him. “You better go attack more, the lady seems can’t hold it anymore.” She nods as she nocks, aims, and fires the bow on an enemy, puncturing deeply on his neck, which killed him immediately. The girl was about to run and get a better position when suddenly a huge blast go for them and also their enemy, knocking them all back to their positions.  Hugo immediately stands, enduring the pain that he received from the blast, he looks again at the window, his eyes widen as the faint glass-like barrier was fading away. He quickly ran to Miss Eve’s room and opens the door. There he saw the lady laying on the floor, all knocked out. He carries her and puts her gently down her bed.  “Blaise.” He muttered as he exits the room, he went downstairs as he saw a bunch of people compiling in both the dinner table and living room. He was gonna passed by them and ignore them as a familiar figure was laying on the couch. He checked it.  “Why is Blaise all knocked out?” He turned to others, they all turn to Ophelia who was near the stairs with the net g*n that the boy sleeping unintentionally on the couch. “I can explain, it was my fault.” Ophelia sighed. “What actually happened?” He tries to wake him up. “He’s not waking!” He checked his pulse on his right wrist, he heaved a sigh and muttered under his breath, “Oh heavens, thank you.” “Well, I didn’t mean to knock him out, I was unaware of what this thing does.” Hugo stared at her, which made her really uncomfortable. “I screwed up, didn’t I?” “Well, you just made our tech genius sleep while a battle commences.” Hugo with his sarcastic tone made Ophelia get more embarrassed. Outside, the others are now fighting back. Thilda grabs a man on his neck and stabs her blade hand to its neck. He gags and vomits blood as the lady warrior releases him, his dead body falls onto the ground. “Adam, can you make a wall?” A male with his hair so messy nods as he swipes his hand and the ground starts shaking, a wall is starting to surround the hotel, making the entrance a lot harder for the enemies.  “Aquil, go to the rooftop.” A blonde girl nods as she goes into the main building, hoping to avoid the mines. Speaking of mines, some of them got detonated which made a good impact on them. “Peony, keep playing with them!” Thilda shouted as the playful girl throws the armed forces with her vines. She smiled and hits someone, which made them propel in the air. “Homerun!!!” She laughs and continues with her business. The fighters continue to slay the enemies, which seems they are a lot of them to handle. Meanwhile, inside the building, Ophelia and Hugo are still exchanging barbs. “Okay, since I know Blaise’s lab is, we can go there and find that healer thing that you need. Okay? Just stop, I know I screwed up.” Hugo sighs as he nods. “Hey, you, you okay to guard these people?” She asked a man who seems old enough to fight, but seems doesn’t have the ability to do so. “Uhm, sure. That’s the best I can do.” Ophelia hands the weapon to him as she went downstairs with Hugo. “I know a safe way to go there.”  They go to her room, which is room 107. She approached the trapdoor leading underground. “There are only a few rooms with that trapdoor, ” Hugo said as Ophelia opens it. “Really?” She sat on the floor, inserting her lower body into the hole. “Yep, there are only 3 here who have that and the other side has 4.” “Oh okay, come on!” Ophelia jumps and landed it. She rises from her crouched position and sets aside herself as Hugo follows.  “This is the con, we haven’t turned on the lights,” Hugo said since they can’t really see anything. The light from above eases their suffering a bit. “I know his lab is just near here. Ophelia starts to walk to the left and as she pats the wall, trying to find the door with her sense of touch. They didn’t fail since minutes later, Ophelia found it. Hugo stayed in the light. The teenage girl opens the lab and gladly, the lights of it are open. Ophelia enters, Hugo followed.  “Now, if I am Blaise, where would I put it?” Ophelia holds her chin and thinks where could the healer thing device Hugo is saying of. “What does it look like anyway?” She asked Hugo who was looking around. “It was sort of like a small shaped like a finger device with some pointy thing on its end.” Ophelia looked around, “Since it is small, it might be in a drawer of some sort. And it seems that it is important so it may be in an isolated place but noticeable.” They started to search in the drawers and cabinets. Ophelia was looking at small cabinets with glass doors. She noticed a small device with the shape of a finger and a small needle on it. “I think I found it!” Hugo quickly goes to her as she takes out the device. “We should go.” She nods as they went out of the room and went back to the hotel. Hugo raised her and Ophelia tries to pull him up. Ophelia pants as they run again to the third floor where the lady is resting. Blaise slowly wakes up and noticed the two running. He quickly jerks and rises from his slumber. He followed him, wondering why are they running. Both of them reached the room with the sleeping Miss Eve on the bed. They quickly went near her and draws the device. “How to use this!?” Ophelia, now in a panic, trying to insert the device on her finger and getting worried that nothing happens.  Blaise slammed the door as he looks at them and onto the device. He runs to them as he assisted Ophelia. He fixes the device on her finger and pierces the needle onto the lady’s wrist.  Minutes later, a big blast knocked them back. Making them fall on the floor and knocks them all out.
