Desperate Defend

‘They will ambush the hotel!’

She wasted no time thinking as she runs back to the hotel. She went into the main building and goes up to the third floor. She knocks on Miss Eve’s room, “Miss Eve! Miss Eve!” The door opens, “What happened?” The lady was panicking for a bit, then she tries to calm down. “The armed guys, they are ambushing us late at night! I saw them in the forest!” The lady sighs, “Wake the others up, then tell them to wake the others too.” She exited her room.

The lady starts knocking on the third floor. Ophelia went down and knocks on one door on the second floor, “We are getting ambushed! Please wake the other people up!” A male teenager exits the room as he heard the news, he started to wake the residence on the second floor. She did it on the first floor too. She goes out and went into the two buildings, she shouted at each of them. “We are getting ambushed! Please prepare!” 

Thilda runs downstairs and approaches Ophelia. She was still in a deep sleep, but she woke up as she heard what Ophelia shouted. The brunette girl looks at her, “They are determined they will get us tonight. Please prepare the warriors.” Thilda sighs as she runs and collected her companions. 

Blaise was sleepily walking to the open space. “The barrier is still up… How can they ambush us?” Miss Eve walks up to them, “We don’t know… They may seem found a way to counter the defense we have. I don’t know how, but we need to be prepared. I don’t want to get easy.” Blaise sighs as he jogs to the entrance of the underground. “He seems still sleepy. There’s a path in his room to his laboratory.” 

“Miss Eve, what shall we do?” Thilda approaches her with the others. “Just prepare to defend and don’t go near the edge of the barrier.” The black-haired girl nods, “On your positions!” They start to jog to their usual positions. “I should ask the others to help in case this is really a massive attack.” The lady went on as Ophelia was left. 

The army of armed forces gets into their positions as well. A tall figured man walks on their front. He started to tap on his watch and extends his arm straight on his front. A small device wet out of his wrist, it floats to nothingness until it stops. It grips on the air and its blue led starts to blink red. The man walks away as the device explode, revealing the hotel.

Thilda looks at the army, terrified. “Prepare!” The army starts to charge to them as they start to engage in combat also. Thilda stabs anyone she can reach, mostly on the neck. Arrows starts to rain on them too and punctured some of them to death. Peony starts to grow her vines as she grabs some of them and squeezed them or suffocates them to death. The others start taking damage as the healer in their backs tries to heal them. 

Ophelia was in the public bath, focusing. The battle continues outside as she strengthens her willpower. The others who don’t usually fight, start to fight for a bit. Dulse was participating by grabbing some of the men and breaking their necks with her hair. Screams start to be heard as well as other residents get shot and get taken. 

“HELP!!!” A little girl cried as she was taken by one of the enemies, retreating to the trees. Aquil noticed it as she aims at the moving target, fires and luckily puncturing his neck. Both of them fall as other residents help the little girl out. Some animals started to help them, biting some enemies down, at least making them slow at their attacks. 

The others start shooting as Blaise entered the scene with his gadgets. He throws some mines at the place, knocking back some of the enemies in the process. “Just keep shooting!” He threw some smoke grenades too, which made the other enemies confused. 

Miss Eve, in her room, starts to rebuild the barrier. Since it got blown up, she’s a bit weaker than usual. Hugo was guarding her like before, checking on the lady if she’s still fine. She was heavily breathing while trying to collect some magic and power she left, also balancing it to keep her conscious and alive. Hugo gets some of the hair collection for his manipulation and starts calling all the humans they have in the hotel. They positioned themselves, unknowingly and unwillingly preparing to fight off the others who will go into the main building.

Back into the peaceful lawn of the hotel which is now the battlefield between their enemies. Screams dominated the surroundings. Thilda notices one of the fighters fell down the grassy lawn, she stabs the unknowing attacker of his and helped the fighter out. “Warren! Get up!” She shouted. Warren coughs blood as he blinks his eyes several times. “Warren! Don’t you give up!” He looked at her and smiles, “It’s nice to serve the hotel one last time…” His head slowly lays on the ground as he closes his eyes and took his last breath. 

“Warren! Warren!” Thilda with her tears is falling, shouting at the dead comrade. “Warren!” She keeps calling him. She puts her fingers on his neck, she gasped as more tears fell down her cheeks. She stands and looks at the enemies, now with anger in her eyes. She started to stab anyone she can reach, “This is for taking Warren!” 

Aquil was still sniping the enemies on her favorite spot. One enemy noticed her and caught her off guard. He shot her and she got hit on her hand. She shrieked in pain as she crawls and takes cover. Her hand is bleeding too hard, with no healers by her side, she will be dead if she wouldn’t make a move. She ripped the sleeves of her shirt and starts patching up her wound. The bullets are shooting her cover. Even wounded in her hand, she continued to shoot them at her best. 

Back to Ophelia, she started to attack some enemies by splashing water on them which she gets from the public bath. It gave the others time to finish them off. Even her shoulder aches as she stretches them every time, she tries to get the others to at least help them. “Ophelia! Get my seeds to their positions!” Peony shouted as the bottom of her hair drops some seeds. Ophelia went on her back as she burst the water and let it flow to the side of the enemy. With Peony’s seed on the other side, she can now grow some vines to their base. 

Peony magically grows the vines as those green and long friends of hers get the enemies on the other side. She starts to suffocate them as the vines reached their necks. She throws it once they are dead and gets another victim to get her job done. But, that wasn’t easy. The enemies are used to her techniques that they have something to cut her vines off before having it kill them. Ophelia keeps helping her to deliver the seeds on the other side. 

Back to room 143, where Miss Eve is trying to get the barrier back to at least lessen the pain her residence is experiencing outside. She started to get weaker and weaker and the magic she is collecting is still not enough to make a full-blown barrier to protect them. She didn’t have a choice and released it to make a barrier. The other enemies who are within the barrier start to dissolve as others don’t, the others killed them right away. 

The tall figured man came back again and ready to blow the barrier once again. He starts tapping on his watch again as he extends his arms and the small device appears again. 

Aquil saw him and nocks then aim at him. She fires her bow, the man has strong reflexes as he caught the bow which made the girl’s eyes widen. He throws it back as it punctured Aquil’s heart, she falls on the room with her chest stained with blood and her mouth dripping some blood too. She slowly slides as she falls from the rooftop. She landed on the ground, pushing the arrow more on her chest as she died in her own arrow. Thilda’s eyes widen as she witnesses how that happened, another fighter died in front of her own eyes. 

The hotel which was the sanctuary of peace and diversity is now full of screams, cries, and some dead bodies. They keep fighting back. “There are so many of them! I can see from here there is another batch!” Ophelia looks up to her, “Seems they really prepare. Especially it’s night, where our visions are at its worst.” Peony keeps moving her hands, “I can’t even catch one precisely!” 

The other batch starts to attack, Ophelia starts to worry as the main fighters’ force starts to get weak. She came back to the public bath as she starts to focus again. She collected all the things that make her angry and starts to feel the rage inside her. The water starts to rock uncontrollably as she shouts and the water exploded the public bath, injuring some of the attackers with the planks and roof of it. Half of the third batch got to wipe out, Ophelia got some cuts on her body but she didn’t care. She started to attack whoever is on her way. 

On the other hand, Miss Eve is getting so weak but she keeps collecting her power to get the barrier going. Hugo tries to stop her but the lady gets stubborn.

“Miss Eve, you will faint if you summon one more.” He said on the lady who was sitting on the edge of her bed, holding her stomach as she breathes heavily. “No, I need to create another barrier.” Hugo sighs, “But it will get you unconscious.” The lady insists, shaking her hand as she pants, “We need to help there.” She walks to her place earlier; and in her movements, it’s undeniable that she is now weak, after making the barrier, Hugo is really sure she will faint. Since the lady is getting stubborn, he just prepared to get her on the ground floor and ask help from the healers, which he hopes there is one left to them.

In the present, the lady is squinting her eyes harder than before, her body starts to shake as the magic slowly gets stronger and stronger. Judging her situation, she can’t balance the power she gives and the power she receives. If she balances it, the barrier will be easily broken again if she unleashed it. Hugo is strictly looking at her, waiting for her to collapse. 

She decided to get the barrier going. Hugo’s eyes widen as the lady decided to do it, he expects it, but he hopes she doesn’t do it. But here they are, the lady charges and unleashed the barrier, another batch of enemies dissolved again and the others can’t go in anymore. The lady falls as Hugo catches her quickly and carries her, running out of the room and going downstairs. 

He shouted on a window as he encountered Thilda, “Can I borrow some of your healers!?” He said in distress, Thilda looks at him, her eyes are tired of crying. “I don’t know! My co-fighters are slowly dying Hugo! They are slowly dying! I don’t know if my healers are still alive!” Hugo already loses himself, “Miss Eve will be slowly dying too if she isn’t treated, you know!?” Thilda pulls her hair, “I don’t know anymore! Think of another way!” She runs and fights once more.   

The tall figure goes into the scene again, but this time, she was seen by Ophelia. “So you were the one who kept messing the barrier up.” She burst a lot of water into him, he wasn’t aware as he gets taken away and hits his head on a tree which made him knocked out. “Now, I knock bad people.” She runs away to find Thilda or anyone she can say this. 

She encountered Thilda, “Thilda!” She looks at her, “What!?” Ophelia pants, “Peony said there is another after this and the guy… Who is keeping the barrier out is already asleep. But hear me out, I have a plan to end this suffering.” Thilda sighs, “What is it!?”

“We need to run away.”
