Phoebe pulled Helen to the side, a look of concern on her face. Helena was almost afraid to ask what the problem was.
“Mistress, the woman Salome might be telling the truth. There might be no way out of this ‘time eddy,’ as they call it. I’ve seen no indication that the moon has moved nor that time has passed. Have you noticed they have not added wood to the fire since we arrived?”
“It would seem simple enough. We walked down the path with no curves or branches. All we should need to do is follow the path back.” Helena pointed toward the way they entered the clearing.
“That would be the case if the path continued in the same direction. Since we were attacked with the loud noise, I feel dizzy. Like where we’re standing is not solid ground.”
