Chapter 9:
Carl was released from the hospital the day after the attack. Doyle wasn’t so lucky. The doctors recommended that he stay at least two days to let his ribs heal or risk puncturing a lung.
They had released Sigmund the day they brought the reporter and the copper into the hospital. He had stayed a few hours to watch over them. Doyle knew Sigmund had multiple tasks waiting for him back at the estate. Besides, any information concerning Helena would arrive at the house, not at the hospital. When Sigmund left, it left Carl to check up on the bedridden detective.
