AURORA'S POV
Finding an empty bench, I sat down and put my purse beside me. Pulling out my phone, I opened the app to find a rideshare and escape. I told Lucas I already had one coming, but I just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. He'd spazz out about the thought of me being in a parking lot alone at night. But I needed to get away from Silas.
Entering my information, I saw the driver was twenty minutes from there. Ugh. It was cold. I hadn't brought a jacket to the game, not realizing all the ice meant it'd be cold. And I didn't expect to be out this late without a ride, so the no jacket thing looked like a mistake now.
I shoved my hands in my pockets and nestled my chin into my chest, folding in on myself to create some sort of warmth. I started humming, trying to put the night behind me already.
I wish Maya and Dylan hadn't driven seperate or had stayed behind waiting for us. Maybe we could have gone to dinner or something. But Maya said she had homework that needed to be done and would call it a night. I'd see her back at the dorm.
Silas's eyes came back into my thoughts. Dark, angry, and focused on me. Why did he dislike me so much immediately? Had I done something to offend him? Was he that big of a bigot towards anyone not fit and thin that he just treated them like s**t if they came into his domain?
A heavy weight on the bench beside me made me jump to attention. My eyes wide, I spun to my right, seeing a dark form in a green jacket sitting on the bench next to me. I squealed. "Um, sorry, I'll..."
I stood, prepared to give the dark figure the entire bench and get the f**k away from here, when a hand snatched my wrist and had me falling back down on the bench. Oh no. "Sit."
Oh no, again. I recognized that voice. Silas. Silas had followed me outside. I ripped my wrist from his grasp and scooted away from him. "What are you doing out here?"
"I wanted to make sure you made it safe to your ride. Lucas didn't seem concerned about your well-being."
"I told him my ride would be here when I got outside."
Silas scoffed, pulling his hood back from his jacket so I could see his face in the street lamp light. "And he still didn't feel the need to see you off or make sure you were safe. Pathetic."
I glared at him. "Haven't you had enough fun insulting me for the night? You don't have to insult my boyfriend, too."
A smirk played on his lips. "So defensive. How would you feel if you knew Lucas didn't feel as defensive for you as you do him?"
"What do you mean?"
Silas shrugged. "Maybe someone commented on you to him, and he didn't defend you. And even laughed along with what the person said."
I closed my eyes, pushing away the negative thoughts immediately clamoring to the front of my mind. "Yeah, right. Lucas would defend me."
"Maybe. Maybe not."
I grabbed my phone from my pocket, looking at the rideshare app to see how much longer it would be until my ride was here. Ten minutes. I just had to endure ten more minutes with this weirdo. "My ride is about here. Feel free to leave now."
"I'm not leaving until your ass is in the car."
"Excuse me? Why do you care?"
He shrugged. "I don't. But your disappearance or murder in our parking lot would take the attention away from our games and, therefore, from me. So it's not so much you as it is about me."
"Do you stalk all women to the parking lot to ensure their safety?"
I saw his nostrils flare, but he ignored me. "Why aren't you wearing a jacket?"
"I didn't realize it was going to be cold inside or tonight, or I'd be out in the cold."
He tugged at his jacket, unzipping it. He threw it at me before I could ask what he was doing. "Take this."
I stared at the clothing in my lap. "This won't fit me. I'm..."
"Just put it on. If you stretch it out, you can keep it."
It felt like a knife had been twisted in my chest. I never tried to borrow Lucas's stuff because I feared I wouldn't fit in his jackets or t-shirts. Lucas wasn't rail thin, and he wasn't large either. I stared down at the coat. I refused to put it on. "No."
I heard a low growl come from Silas, and then he snatched the jacket from my lap and grabbed my arm. "Put on the damn jacket."
I tried to pull away as he shoved an arm in the jacket. I didn't want to put on his damn coat, but I sure as hell didn't want to be manhandled into a coat by this jerk. "Stop it! Fine!"
He dropped his hands, which caused me to lose my balance and fall forward into his lap. Face first. I jerked up the second my face landed in his lap, grabbing at anything to right myself. Scrambling up, my hand grabbed his lap before I could return to a sitting position. And what I caught was...hard. Rock hard.
I gasped, my eyes shooting to his as my hand retracted like a snake had bitten me. His eyes bore into mine. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to..."
"I just finished getting sucked off by the twins, now you're trying to join the team?"
My jaw dropped. "What, no? I..fell. I'm sorry. And..."
"Decided to grab my c**k?"
I stuttured, "No...no. I just. I'm sorry. I just. This has me out of sorts. I'm sorry. I just..."
He grabbed my hand, keeping his eyes locked on mine. "Oh no, you want to grab at it; why not get a firm grip on it?"
I squeezed my eyes shut as he pulled my hand towards him. "No, it was an accident."
He released my hand, laughing. "Are you blushing?"
I kept my eyes closed. "No. It's just cold."
"Put on the damn jacket."
I kept my eyes closed as I pulled on his jacket, which fit as well as any of my jackets. I zipped it up, shocked that I could wear someone else's clothing. It must be due to his size. He was a lot bigger than most men I was around.
He looped an arm around me and pulled me up against him. "Good. I'll come around to get it back from you."
I was holding my breath, afraid to breathe on him. Was he going to snap at me, insult me, or say something overtly s****l? Why was I pulled up against him? "Um...okay. I..."
"Your rideshare is driving up. I recognize the sticker. If they expect you to have a big, burly boyfriend, they will be less likely to mess with you."
"What are you talking about?"
"I don't trust rideshares. And neither should you. So pretend to be saying goodbye to your boyfriend when he stops."
I pushed myself off of him and stood, seeing the approaching car's headlights. When it stopped in front of us, I exchanged PINs with the driver and headed to the back, but a hand snatched the back of my jacket and pulled me back. "Honey, no kiss goodbye?"
Before I could say anything, I spun around and lips crashed into mine. My eyes were wide as Silas kissed me, his tongue slowly trying to pry my lips apart, but I kept my mouth firm. Acknowledging he wouldn't gain access, his tongue played along the seams of my lips. I shoved at him, and he released me. "I'll see you in a few, sweetie. I just have to say goodbye to the boys."
He said this loudly so the driver could hear. I glared at him, pushing at him again, so he released me, and I went back towards the car. Huffing, I slammed the door behind me. The driver made no comment.
Silas's eyes stayed on mine as we started to drive away. I watched his figure get smaller in the distance, still feeling like he was watching me. I pressed my fingers to my lips, which now felt alive.
I shuddered. My body must not have gotten the memo that Silas was a giant asshole to be reacting to his kiss like that. But it was okay; I didn't have to see him again.
