Chapter 11Jordan called Ben Stevens a few minutes before nine Friday morning to fill him in on what he’d learned the previous day about Tom Pope and the man’s present home. When he finished, Ben’s first comment was, “You want my help getting inside.”
“Yeah, if you can get away for a while. We’re running out of time if Pope is the same man who murdered Nancy Moore, and if he’s keeping to the same schedule with Kelly that he did with her. I know, both are problematic but my gut tells me I’m right.”
“I think you are. The first question is, is he there during the day? Secondly, I need probable cause to get him to let me inside. Even then, I can’t legitimately search the house without a warrant, and we have the same problem as before. We don’t have sufficient evidence to obtain one.”
