It was now that Demetrius remembered why it was that he had never gone shopping with any of his mistresses, because women took too long to make up their minds about what it was that they wanted to buy.
For him shopping was easy, he would call his personal stylist who would simply deliver the cloths to his home and he would choose what it was that he liked and what he did not. Irritated that this shopping trip was taking too much of his time and even more irritated that Bailey had to make a scene in front of Catherine and her assistant.
Demetrius knew that Catherine was not the type to share what had happened today with the gossip columnists but Demetrius had no idea about the new assistant with her. Demetrius smiled at himself, thinking of how Bailey had overreacted concerning the pricing of the dresses. In all honesty, it had never occurred to Demetrius how much money he spent on clothing.
All his life he had grown up very much privileged and he never had to worry with such trivial matters but now he was deep in thought about it. Demetrius shock his head, trying his best to get the image of Bailey so close to him in the dressing room out of his mind. Now all Demetrius had to do was call his assistant to donate fifty thousand dollars to a charity or organization of Bailey’s choice.
Demetrius picked up his phone, about to dial the number he looked up and his heart stopped, his phone dropping to the floor. This could not possibly have been Bailey standing in front of him.
Gone were her ripped jeans, now replaced with a silk black, floor length dress and a slit all the way up to her thigh and the spaghetti string looked so thing that Demetrius imagined himself ripping it off with his teeth.
“So how does she look?” Catherine asked Demetrius who was clearly lost in Bailey and her outfit.
“I’m sorry, what were you saying?” Demetrius asked Catherine, not once peeling his eyes away from Bailey.
Bailey tried on different outfits for another thirty minuets until Demetrius stopped the stopped and asked for everything to bagged up, they were buying everything.
Back in the dressing room Bailey took off her dress and put back her own clothing, she felt different. With the expensive gown, she felt like she was somebody… someone that people would respect.
“I told you he loved you” Catherine came up behind Bailey, but deep down Bailey still struggled to believe a word that Catherine was saying to her.
“Yeah”
“Bailey, I know you don’t believe me. Now I have no idea what circumstances that you and Demetrius got engaged under but the look on his face when you walked out with that black gown, is one I’d pay to see again” Catherine joked, causing Bailey to smile.
“Thanks” Bailey thanked Catherine, whom stopped what it was she was doing to face.
“What are you thanking me for sweetie?” Catherine asked Bailey innocently.
“For dealing with my tantrums, I really did not mean to act that way” Bailey apologized profusely but Catherine smiled.
“You don’t need to apologize, I don’t know you that well but I could tell that you were overwhelmed by all this this. My dear, whether the two of us like it or not, this is a rich man’s world and we are simply the pawns” Catherine told Bailey, before walking out of the dressing room.
Those last words got Bailey thinking that maybe Catherine was right, this truly was a rich man’s a world and people like herself, Catherine and the female assistant were just pawns. Those words left Bailey uncertain about the deal between Demetrius and herself.
She watched as Demetrius conversed with Catherine as he swiped his card, paying for the lot of clothing, jewelry and shoes that he brought her. Soothing words fell from Demetrius’ lips without effort on his behalf. He was a smooth talker. Bailey knew these kinds of men; she had seen them at the strip clubs every weekend wooing at unsuspecting women.
“Bailey!” Demetrius yelled at her, startling the unsuspecting Bailey.
“Yes” she answered still trying to gather her thoughts to try to understand why it was that Demetrius was yelling at her.
“We’re done, my love” Demetrius smiled at her, like a loving real fiancé would but deep down Bailey knew that this was all for show. She smiled at Demetrius like he did her, flashing her pearly whites at him.
“Okay then. Thank you Catherine for your assistance today, as you can see my fiancé Demetrius is hungry and I’m afraid I need to feed him” Bailey told Catherine in a seductive manner, then quickly moving her hand into Demetrius blazer and running her hand over his abs.
To her surprise, Demetrius did not act negatively and he simply played along. He smiled down at her and dropped a kiss on Bailey’s lips, startling her as she realized her plans to embarrass him had failed. He grabbed Bailey by the hips and pulled her lose too him, her eyes widened as her hips pressed against his crotch.
Demetrius turned his attention from Bailey and focused it to both Catherine and her assistant who stood behind the cash counter, frozen and clearly shocked.
“Catherine as you can see I am indeed very hungry, would you be kind enough to deliver everything to my house?” without waiting for a reply Demetrius waltzed Bailey out of the store.
Demetrius walked ahead of Bailey throughout the remainder of their trip, not once did he look her way nor yell at her for her actions at the clothing store. Bailey dared not uttered a word, only now it occurred to her that she might have killed her sister’s chance of getting the best treatment possible.
Demetrius came to a halt in front of a posh looking restaurant, the ones that Bailey only saw in movies. He stopped at the entrance before a host came to greet them, with her book in her hand and a smile plastered on her face as she spoke to Demetrius and once again, her smile faded as she looked at Bailey.
It was days like these that Bailey wished she disappeared into thin air, everyone in this posh mall looked at her the exact same way. It felt as if Demetrius was a piece of diamond and she was the peace of stain attached to it.
The young women greeted Bailey, Bailey simply raised her eyebrow questioning the hosts greeting. Within no time, into the restaurant they were escorted. Everyone sitting looked top of the notch and slowly their heads turned as Bailey walked in behind Demetrius.
Bailey really wanted to be anywhere but at that restaurant. Luckily, for Bailey, she and Demetrius were escorted to a very private area of the restaurant, away from prying eyes. The male waiter who assisted them pulled out a chair for Bailey and she sat down, opposite Demetrius, the only thing separating them was the square table.
Both she and Demetrius were handed large leather menus and as soon as Bailey opened it, she wished she had not done that. Bailey could only make out some of the stuff on the list but most of it she could not.
“I’m not hungry anymore” Bailey confessed and she was telling the truth, the price of the foods made her lose her appetite. Demetrius turned to the waiter and instinctively the young man removed himself from their presence, leaving just Demetrius and Bailey alone.
“Don’t you like the restaurant?” Demetrius asked Bailey, his voice calm and collective and not once did he look away from his menu.
“The price of these foods are ridiculous, I mean look at this, two hundred dollars for a plate of fish!” Bailey yelled out not caring who heard her. Demetrius put down his menu, all his attention was now on Bailey, and it was then that she wished she had just shut her mouth.
“Do you drink?” Demetrius asked her plainly and Bailey nodded a yes.
“Waiter” Demetrius called out and the young man who came back into their private space.
“Both my fiancé and I would like a Sauvignon Blanc please” Demetrius ordered, leaving Bailey shocked that he had totally disregarded the fact that she refused to eat or drink. Bailey sat there speechless as the young man wrote down what Demetrius had said.
“And what would you and the lady like to eat?”
“We will both have fish Paella” Demetrius ordered and just like that, the young waiter walked away. Bailey’s face reddened in anger, as she was about to give Demetrius a piece of her mind. Like clockwork, the waiter appeared with both their wines glasses and he placed in on their table.
In truth, Bailey was not one to drink. She would have a sip of it here and there and it will be enough for her. Their waiter then disappeared again and instead of Demetrius scolding her, he was busy on his phone, totally ignoring her, which only infuriated Bailey the more.
Their food had arrived faster than Bailey had ever received her food at any drive thru before and placed onto their table. Bailey mouthed a thank you but Demetrius did not and he simply dug into his food.
The waiter left once more time and Bailey could not understand what was up with Demetrius’ attitude today.
“You could have a least thanked the waiter for bringing us our food, it’s called manners” Bailey spat those words at him and Demetrius stopped eating. She watched as he put down his cutlery, took the napkin, wiped his mouth and placed it neatly besides his plate.
“Oh by the way since the waiter will be a while, I wanted us to talk”
“About what?” Bailey responded at to Demetrius, who seemed to be looking at her dead in the eyes.
“About that little skit you pulled at the clothing store” Demetrius asked, a wicked smile appearing on his lips.
You should have just shut your mouth, Bailey. She reminded herself and now she had to explain why it was that she did that. In all truths, Bailey did not know what to say, because she truly was not thinking when she acted that way.
Play it cool Bailey, do not let him scare you that easily. Bailey gave herself a mentally pat; she would not allow Demetrius to scream at her, never.
“What never had a woman turn you on like that?” Those words made Bailey regret it. Demetrius did not look mad or upset; he simply raised an eyebrow and then smiled.
“I’ve had many women turn me on but I must say you’re the first to do it without wanting any paparazzi’s attention”
“Why would I want the paparazzi to take a picture of us?” Bailey asked innocently.
Demetrius said nothing, rather he focused his attention on Bailey, trying to understand her but falling short.
“Never mind but let me warn you that if you keep it up, the two of us might make it to my bed before we get to the aisle” Demetrius told her, causing Bailey to stop eating her food. Shock written all over her face as she looked into Demetrius’ eyes.
Bailey knew when a man bluffed but Demetrius was not the kind of man to joke about such things and it was best if she took his words seriously. Although what Demetrius said bothered her, she was hell bent on not fulfilling his s****l fantasy. The deal was that she pretends to be his fiancé for an entire month, not to sleep with him and she would honor that deal no matter what.
“Eat up; we still have to see the hairstylist and the make—up artist”
“Why tonight and not tomorrow?” Bailey asked
“Let’s just say that my mother has had a change of heart and the dinner is this evening” Demetrius informed Bailey, leaving her baffled by his mother’s change of plans.
