2. I don’t know how much time passed. I slept a sort of restless sleep, waking continuously. I was cold, I was hungry, I was thirsty. At one point, another person came in the room. It was a young girl, younger than me. She could not be more than twenty years old. She was not one of them. She was a human. She gave me a bowl which she placed just outside the cage. Where I could reach it with my hands. She left without looking at me. Now, you must understand that in the meantime everything had become more grotesque. I had been left there for several hours- at least twelve, according to my calculations- and I had excreted within the cage. What was I supposed to do? It was repulsive. I looked at the contents of the bowl. It was a black slice of bread in a dense liquid, which I hoped wa
