I thought I’d been through enough already, but I soon learnt that when you are dealing with people who live for centuries and have nothing to do all day, there is no end to the amount of trouble you can get yourself into. And it is never a small amount of trouble. It happened two days after my return from Inverness, when Adrian wasn’t home (obviously they had planned this so he wasn’t). I don’t know how they entered the house. They probably bashed in the back door. Wolves aren’t graceful when they decide to move as a pack. Oh, and they had decided to move as a pack. There was about twenty of them. Twenty apparently normal people, armed with pistols and shotguns. When it happened I was in the living room, I was checking the chimney for blockages as the prior evening it had decided
