CHAD
I don't know why I felt so uneasy. I didn't have any communication with Bryan for two days already. He never goes to school and so was Brett. And I just found myself standing outside their house.
I pulled my phone from my pocket and dialed Bryan's number again and I kept on hearing the same voice and line making me sigh.
I pressed the doorbell and waited for few minutes before I pressed it again. I can feel like the house was empty from the outside and I was so surprised when my phone vibrated on my back making me jump.
I pulled my phone and I was surprised to see who the caller was.
Did he saw me peeking outside?
"Bryan!" I answered.
"Where are you?"
"That should be my line, asshole!" I exclaimed.
"Just tell me where are you." He sounded in a hurry.
"Okay. I, uhh, I'm at school." I lied. I can't tell him that I'm in front of his house!
"Stay there. I'm coming to pick you up." He said.
"Wait!" I said. Why would he pick me up? "I'm honestly in front of your house." I said and he was silent for a moment.
"I'm driving down there. Just don't go anywhere."
"O-okay." I said and he ended the call.
I don't understand what was going on at all. And it took Bryan a few minutes before he parked his car in front of me. He opened the passenger seat from the inside and motioned me to sit.
I did since he looked like in a hurry and closed the door.
"Where have you been? I can't contact you. You're not answering my messages—"
"Something happened." He cut me and he looked so serious as if he wasn't the Bryan that I knew.
"What happened?" I asked as he u-turned.
"He told you, right?" He said and told me what? "Brett."
Hearing just his name made my heartbeat hitched.
"He told you about us." He said.
"If being a werewolf was what you mean, then yes. He showed me."
Bryan sighed.
"So, it's true? I-I wasn't dreaming then?" I looked at him and he nodded.
"You weren't."
"So, you are too?"
"Yes." He said and my eyes widen in surprise and fear as I leaned myself on the window closed when his eyes glowed as he glanced at me. Then, he chuckled.
"Fvck you!" I kicked him on his thigh and he lost control of the wheel for a second.
"What the hell was that!?" He exclaimed.
"That's for scaring me, you asshole!" I exclaimed. He laughed but turned into serious mode one second.
Something big maybe happened that he ditched school, me and everything. I was waiting for him to say something but he was quiet and it's bothering me. I don't even know where he will going to take me.
But I trust him.
"What happened?" I asked, finally after debating inside my mind.
"It's Brett."
"What about him!?" I exclaimed and I wasn't aware of that. I was even surprised hearing myself and so was Bryan.
"He needs your help." He said and I frowned.
Why would he need my help?
"He needs you. . . to live."
All of that Brett talk was making my heart go crazy.
"What do you mean by that?"
"He's dying." Bryan said and I felt like my heart stopped. Everything stopped and only the tears that started building up in my eyes didn't. But I fought it.
"You're supposed to feel it. You're mates after all." He said.
"You knew?"
"That you're mates? Yes. And he needs you. . . right now."
"I don't understand." I said confused. "You said he's dying and why does he need me to live? He needs a doctor."
"You don't understand us."
"Yeah. I don't understand the both of you." I said and he sighed.
"You'll understand. I just want him to live."
I looked at Bryan and I sighed.
"What really happened?" I asked.
"It's a long story."
"Then make it short?"
"A war."
"A what!?" I exclaimed. "How come I didn't hear anything about it?"
I saw Bryan rolled his eyes. "I'm not gonna explain the whole story because we're almost there."
"Where are you taking me?"
"You'll see." He said and I rolled my eyes.
"So, what am I gonna do?"
"Nothing."
I looked at him and squinted my eyes.
"Excuse me?"
"Just be with him and everything will be fine."
"And that will stop him from. . . from dying?"
Thinking about Brett dying was weird. I mean, I don't know what I was feeling because why would I feel that way. We're not even friends! Why am I so concerned about him dying!? Was it the mate thing?
"Believe me, it will." Bryan said and slowly stopped the car.
"Why are we stopping?" I asked and looked outside. There was nothing there. Only trees and it reminds me of the place where Brett brought me making my heart raced in an unpleasant way.
"We're here." He said, turning off the engine. I opened the door and went out.
The air was cold making all my hairs stood, hugging myself.
"When you arrive, I want you to find Zach. He knows what to do." He said without going out of the car and turned the engine on.
"W-wait!!" I tried to open the door but it was locked. "You're not leaving me here!" I said, hitting the window with my hands. "Bryan!"
"I guess we're over." He said and I looked at him.
"Are you breaking up with me?" I said and he just looked at me.
"Walk a few meters inside the forest and you'll know it's the place." I heard him said. "Find Zach and. . . please be careful of wolves." He said and drove away leaving me alone.
"Bryan, you asshole!" I called as I ran after him only to stop and pant like crazy.
"Why are they doing this to me!?" I exclaimed and stopped my feet angrily. "Fvck!" I screamed and I jumped when I heard birds flying away from those trees and then that creepy silent atmosphere surrounding me.
I can feel my heart racing and I don't know where to go. Should I do what Bryan said? And Brett.
I glanced at the forest and I felt like wolves are going to jump at me the moment I will step inside. I groaned as I slowly walked into the forest. And I jumped every time I stepped on a twig.
I walked as quietly as I can and my mind was running wild with unpleasant imaginations.
It has been a few minutes since I've been walking when I heard a screech making my heart beats like crazy.
"Why am I doing this!" I whispered to myself and started running.
I screamed and tried to run as fast as I can when three huge wolves suddenly appeared and were chasing me. Bryan did warn me about wolves. . . damn him!
When I tripped on a rock that was hidden behind the dry leaves, throwing me on the ground with a groan and I turned to look at the wolves who were chasing me. They were circling me and what surprised me was when they suddenly turned into a human. Like naked!
And I can't explain how and I ended up collapsing.
**
I woke up when I felt cold and I found myself laying on the floor inside a dim lit. . . jail? I sat immediately and I saw a man sitting on a chair outside the bars.
He was handsome and I can't take my eyes away when he smiled at me.
"You're awake!" He said and stood from his chair making me shuffled to the corner.
"Y-yeah? Who are you?" I asked.
"I should be asking that."
"Where am I? I-I was chased by wolves and—and then. . ." I paused and thought maybe it's already the place.
"And then? How did you come here? This is a private place."
I tried to remember who was it that Bryan mentioned to find. He sounds like a celebrity name. Zach.
"I—I need to find Zach." I said and he looked at me.
"How do you know my nephew?" I was surprised when someone other than the two of us there talked. He was tall and handsome but not as friendly as the first man. "What business do you have with him?" He said and I saw how his arm circled on the other man's waist, and then I realized that they're a freaking couple!
"Ohh. I, uhh, I wanted to talk to him." I said and they just looked at me as if I'm an alien. "Please?"
"Okay." The friendly man said.
"What?" The tall man exclaimed.
"C'mon, Charles! He's just a human!"
I sneered when I heard human. So they're also werewolves?
They're plenty of them there huh.
"I'll call Zach." The friendly one said and I was left with the grumpy man called Charles.
And he looked at me as if I am a suspect of a murder and it's making me uncomfortable.
"How do you know Zach?" He asked.
Fvck, I don't even know who the hell is Zach.
"Uh, my bo—I mean, a friend who knows Zach told me to tell his name and he knows what to do." I said honestly.
"Who is this friend of yours?"
"B-Bryan." I said and he stared at me with bored eyes. "Bryan Schnetzer."
And he seems to recognize Bryan because he nodded just when I heard another set of footsteps.
And then a man at his teens came in with the friendly man.
"You can leave us alone. Thanks, uncle Charles and Evan." The young man said and the two exited the picture.
"Are you Zach?" I asked. Just to be sure, of course.
"The one and only." He said and opened the lock on the bars. "And I know why you're here and let's talk outside this place." He said and I nodded as he let me out of the jail and to that place.
We climb a couple of stairs and realized that I was below the ground the whole time.
"Where is he?" I asked as I walked after him and I was surprised to see a huge modern house in the middle of those tall trees.
"He who?" Zach said.
"Brett! I thought you knew what I'm looking for?"
"Of course. Brett." He halted and I stopped walking too and watched him turned to face me. He's also handsome and. . . are they all handsome here?
"H-he's dead." He said and I looked at his blue eyes, searching if those fvcking words were true.
"B-but Bryan said that—"
"He's dying. I know, but he didn't make it. Maybe he could if you got here sooner." He said and continued walking and we went inside the house through I guess was the back door.
And I don't know what to feel. Did Bryan already know about it? I don't know why but I felt like crying. Crying to someone I don't fvcking know!
I can't even appreciate how beautiful that house was because I felt like s**t inside. We turned to left and I saw a hospital!
They have a hospital there! And I saw a few people were there outside a room and I was surprised when I saw someone the same face as Zach went out of a room making me frown.
"My twin." Zach said, reading my mind.
I walked after him, passing rooms until we stopped to a room.
I can feel my heart racing inside my chest and it kinda hurts.
"Are you sure?" Zach asked and I nodded.
Zach opened the door and I held my breathe when someone was on the bed covered with a white blanket all the way to his head. My eyes suddenly burn and I bit my bottom lip.
"Why does it hurt?" I muttered.
"Because you're mates."
"But he's an asshole!" I exclaimed and Zach lifted the blanket revealing Brett's face.
He still looked so handsome.
Yes, he's handsome. In fact, the most handsome compared to all the men that I've laid my eyes on.
"He's still your mate." Zach said and I raised my hand unconsciously and brushed my fingertips with his closed eyes.
I wanted to look at those beautiful eyes that kept on watching me secretly behind the tree every night again. I want him to open those eyes again.
Dammit!
