CHAPTER NINETEEN The lodge was hardly impressive. Dakota wrinkled her nose at the cigarette smoke wafting up the stairs from the side stairwell behind the out-building near an old recreational center turned into a private gym. The clubhouse itself was in the basement beneath the gym. The scent of cigarette smoke was mingled with the faint odor of alcohol as the two agents took the stairs slowly. A couple of men with dark glasses and thick beards and bandannas jostled past, moving up the stairs. One of them still smelled of beer.
