I gaped at her, astounded by what she was saying. She met her wolf, but what about our mothers? In a place where the souls of the dead rest? Could this imply that her soul left and then came back? My heart raced. Did my mate just come back from being dead?
I gulped. Perhaps that was what being at the brink of death was like.
She swallowed her saliva and coughed. I locked my gaze on her, listening intently. I was eager to hear every detail she would reveal.
"They told me that you saved my life. I didn't understand how you did it then, but I think I do now. They told me a lot of things. Um… like… I still had a lot to do. That I had to save our kind. I still don't understand what that meant, but I guess we will find out eventually. And I met Harika too. She looked beautiful."
