Ava’s hands were still shaking, and when Marcus slammed his apartment door behind them, she jumped at the loud noise. Marcus stormed into the living room and paced in front of the couch. “What the f**k just happened?” he asked, speaking more to himself than to her. “Master Gold killed your parents,” Ava said, not sure why she needed him to confirm it when it was clear from his reaction to her interference that Gold was the one he planned to kill. “I’m so sorry.
