Here We Go

chapter 7

After getting an apple from one of the break rooms and calming down after the conversation with Marcus I decided to walk around the Meta-transport. I didn't want to go back to the lab any sooner than I had to. No way did I want to face Marcus again. I don't understand why he wants to torture me so bad. What did I ever do to him? Lying to my face and saying he wants to be a family and he's sorry, that hurt more than a slap to the face.

"As soon as Eris took the doctor we moved Jasper Minks. We've got an excellent observatory in Italy.He was asked to consult there very suddenly yesterday. Good money, his own plane, very remote. he'll be safe." I heard Ben say. I walked into the main control room and saw him and Enyo looking at a monitor. "Thank you. It's no accident Eris taking Erin Joseph. I dread what she plans for him once she's done. Erin is a good man." Enyo said.

"We'll find a way to save Erin, Enyo." I said walking up to them. “Erin talks about you a lot. You changed his life. You changed everything around here." Ben said. "They were better as they were. We pretend on Olympus that we're more evolved, but we...we come here fighting like Jakains." Enyo said. "Like what?" I asked confused. "Jakains? You know; huge, slobbery, scaley, sharp teeth. You don't have those?" Enyo asked. "Don't think so." Ben said. "They are repulsive, and they destroy everything in their path." She said and then walked over to the window and I followed her. We both looked out into the darkness outside.

"When I first came to earth, Eris’s anger and jealousy followed me here and your people paid the price. And now again. When i was younger I craved war." Enyo said. "War hasn't started yet. You think you can make Eris tell us where the Cube is?" Ames said walking up to us. "I do not know. Eris’s mind is far astray, it's not just power and control she desires, it's vengeance upon me. There's no pain that would pry this need from her." Enyo said.

"A lot of people think that until the pain stops." Ames said. "What are you asking me to do?" Enyo said. "I'm asking what are you prepared to do?" Ames said. "Eris is a prisoner." Enyo said. "Then why do I feel like she's the only one who wanted to be here?" Ames said. "That's definitely the truth." I said shaking my head and taking a bite of my apple.

"Shouldn't you be in the lab?" Ames asked me. "Taking a break for a second. Besides Marcus has been driving me nuts. And I'm sure Campbell is almost done." I said. “Eris seems fascinated with you, you know." Ben said. "Yeah I've noticed." I said crossing me arms annoyed. "You might be able to get some answers out of her too." Ames said. "No way. Alexandra is better at getting things out of people. I don't want to be around that psychopath any longer than I have to. No offense Enyo." I said. "None taken I can understand your resentment against my sister." She said.

"Bailey if there's any chance of stopping a war don't you think we should take it?" Ben said. I looked between him and Ames before sighing. "Fine. I'll try to talk to him later but you two owe me." I said. "Fair enough." Ames said.

Later on...

I finally talked myself into going to see Eris. The whole time I walked to her cell I thought it was a bad idea and I'd regret this later but I took a deep breathe and sucked it up before entering the room she was in.

There she was on the other side of the glass container with her back facing me. "I was hoping we would have a chance to talk again." She said and then turned around smirking at me. "Well I wish I could say the same but I'm not particularly interested in talking to you." I said sarcastically. "So sharp tongued. Tell me do you get so worked up around me because I make you nervous?" Eris said with her hands behind her back and walking up to me as far as the container would let her.

"Nervous? Because of you? Not in a million years." I said scoffing. "Hm see I can tell when you're lying. I do make you nervous. I get under your skin and you don't even know why. I know everything about you, Bailey." She said. I glared at her and tried to remain calm.

"Really? I highly doubt that." I said. "Oh but I do. You're Bailey Bolton. A genius, a hero, your kind to others but have a sarcastic side that comes out. You play with men to stop some deep feeling that has been eating away at you since you were a kid. I know what happened to you Bailey. I know every bad thing that has ever happened to you." Eris said smirking.

"You're lying." I said glaring at her as I started to loose my temper. She was starting to say stuff that no one knew. "Am I? Marcus abused you, neglected you. And here he is now, that must eat away at you after trying to avoid him for so long. After running away and trying to prove your worthy to the world for so long. And your accident. The little incident no one knows. The one time you truly embraced who you are. I thought you were magnificent then. But you fear that. You fear it will happen again and you will grow out of control and you will prove your father right, that you are worthless.

After pushing yourself to be the best for so long and going above and beyond. You were trying to prove yourself to the world, to your father." Eris said. "Stop. Right. Now." I said grinding my teeth. "And your worst fear. Your worst fear is-" She started to say. "Shut up! Just shut up! You know nothing. You want to talk about daddy issues, how about yours? Your trying to take over the world to get attention because you were adopted. Boo hoo, someone actually wanted you." I said.

"You know nothing." Eris said starting to glare at me. "I know you're in that cell and I'm out here free to come and go as I please. I know that you will fail. And when you do I can't wait to be there to say I told you so." I said. "Foolish girl. We'll see what will happen." Eris said smirking at me. I couldn't stand to be in that room another minute. I glared at her and then walked out and sighed taking a deep breathe. She knew way too much about me. I hate to say it but everything she said made me scared for a minute.That hit home. But that just makes me more determined that she won't win.

"You got anything from her Bailey?" Ames said over the ear peace. "I know she's planning something, I just don't know what. She knows more than she should. Eris definitely brings the word mischievous to a new level." I said. Today has been way too long. I can't wait till this is all over.
