The pounding in my head awakened me, and I blinked, trying to throw off the fuzzy feeling. I was groggy. Where was I? What happened? I felt so groggy and moving was a chore. The last thing I remembered was having dinner with Eva. Then everything went black. What happened?
I sat up with great effort and rubbed my aching head, then swung my legs over the side of the bed. Something smelled odd in the room, like burning leaves. I looked for the source of the smell but couldn't find it.
