Tuesday brought sunshine and warm winds from the south. The snow began to melt. By Wednesday Lee figured he ought to get back to work at the Birk’s. He was just about to leave when Sleeps With Dog came out to begin his walk to school. “How’s about a ride to school?” Lee offered as he swung his leg over Ranger’s back. The church was on his way out of town. “Ohaa, all right,” the boy replied. Lee pulled him up on the back of the gray gelding to sit behind him. They started off down the street.
