The next morning they rose with the sun. They got their gear ready to load on the horses and walked toward the house.
“Well, I guess we better be going on,” Lee said to Jethro who was headed for the barn to milk the cow.
“Oh, no, not yet!” came Jethro’s reply. “Annie’s made you a big breakfast. Y’all have no idea what your visit’s meant to her. She’s been mighty lonely out here.”
With no heavy time schedule and no real destination, the trio was happy to have another good meal and some time to plan.
The meal was a time of good fellowship and lots of good food. Half way through the meal, Sleeps With Dog seemed to be urging Benjamin to speak up.
“Ah, Pa…Ma,” the boy started.
“Yes, son,” said Jethro looking at his son.
“Uh…I was wonderin’ if…Well…I was just ah wonderin’…”
