Over the next few days Tatanka got stronger. The two men left the tipi for walks in the afternoon when the weather was warm. As they walked, Tatanka was greeted by almost everyone they passed. It was evident to Lee that his partner was well liked…even respected. Lee thought about this in light of the fact that Tatanka was a woman-man in the eyes of his tribe. Lee began to wonder if, when the elder’s council met, they would not be persuaded to make him chief.
On one of their walks, Lee saw some of the tipis were being taken down. He asked Tatanka about this.
“The buffalo are moving. The people will follow.”
