Odetta spent the next day with the Dean’s wife going round the Colleges and meeting a great number of people, all of whom praised her father and said how interesting they thought his book was. Some had read some of his earlier treatises that he had written on much the same theme. “You do see that we do not forget our great men,” the Dean’s wife said with a smile. This was after several of the Christ Church Dons had told Odetta how they had been at the University at the same time as her father and were delighted to have him back with them again. “The next thing we must do is to invite him to join us,” one of the Dons said. “Would you enjoy living in Oxford, Miss Charlwood?” “I think it would be delightful,” Odetta replied. “I know a great many young men here who would think the same,”
