CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO Ros led me over to the wall and drew aside the curtain of vines to reveal a small tunnel carved into the cliff face. Due to the lack of light, the passage stretched out of sight after only five feet. I squinted into the dark. “What’s in there?” He shook his head. “I didn’t have time to check before our ‘guests’ showed up, but we’ll find out right now.” He grabbed a thick, healthy vine that was nearly as wide as my arm and gave a mighty yank. The plant toppled to the ground, and he picked up the stalk and pulled off all the leaves. “Pull down some of these dead vines,” he told me as he dug around in his pocket.
