CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR The river down which we floated was some two hundred feet wide and meandered lazily through the same hilly countryside that surrounded the Bounding Inn. The depth was great enough that we could easily swim beneath the surface through the deeper channels. Ros didn’t stop us until we were well away from the last culvert, and then he directed us into a shallow pool. Tree limbs shaded the waters, and we frightened a school of fish that had the same hiding idea as us. I plopped myself on a fallen log and breathed out my watery air.
