CHAPTER TEN The joy inside of me was squelched by the sight of that towering hunk of foreboding fortifications, and I slowed the kicking of my feet. Ros looked over his shoulder at me and some of his own humor had fled. “You don’t have to worry about anything. They won’t see us down here.” “‘They?’” I repeated as I kept my eyes on the black castle. Ros lifted his own gaze to the fortification and frowned. “The guards, for one, but there are other horrors that lurk behind those walls.” A shudder ran through me. “Maybe we should go back.” Ros stared ahead and pursed his lips. “We’re almost there.” The great foundation of that mighty castle loomed up in front of us.
