Chapter 2
"HEY, ZAIRENE, what? Are you just going to stare like that?" I felt Dashna bend over my arm. I looked at her and raised my eyebrows.
"I'm not staring, okay?"
"Really? My gosh! Well, if you say so," she said grinning.
"I said I’m not staring!" I almost shouted at her out of frustration.
"Really?" Instead of getting angry at me, she made laugh even more. "I'm sorry. Anyway, don't forget to give me the things that you bought from Japan. Come on!" My best friend is a bully. She always likes this. She’s happy for making me feel so annoyed.
I never tried to glance at the man again at the door. He was different from my system. I do not know.
"Oh my goodness, he’s our classmate!"
"Huh?" I looked up at the door and Dashna was right. Because the new student came right in at the far end of our classroom.
Most of my classmates were devastated. Perhaps surprised by the new student's presence as well. I didn't realize I had been looking at him for a while. But I immediately panicked when he saw me.
I quickly jumped up and sat forward. My hands are cold for no good reason.
Oh my God! What is wrong with me?
I WAS NOT in my normal state during class.
"We do have transferees. Actually, they are five but since they are still from afar, only one has arrived." My teacher, Sir Ferdinand looked at me. Honestly speaking, I am curious about the new guy."Mr. Romualdez, can you please introduce yourself here in front? It's like getting to know your new classmates." Our teacher smiled at him. I didn't want to look at him but I was tempted.
He walked while pocketed. It was then that I noticed his hair was a bit long. If on the other hand, I was frustrated because I didn't want to have long hair on men but he, well, it is suits on him. He was in front of me and he look his eyes to all of us. I bow down because I had something in my mind and seemed to whisper that I was going to stare at this man.
"Good morning, I'm Clark Vincent Romualdez from Cavite," he said as I look at him. I had no intention but our eyes met. His voice was cold and I must admit, my cat's fur stood almost all over my body.
"I saw your report card, Mr. Romualdez and your grades are very impressive. Are you a scholar?" Our teacher smiled as he took the form 138 of this Clark Vincent.
The man in front of me shook his head, "Yes, sir," he said. He was shy because his cheeks were slightly red.
I smiled a little inside.
He's so cute!
I could feel Dashna bending over my arm, "I know that smile… you are having a crush on him, right?"
I turned to look at her in annoyance. "Shut up, Dash. Just listen!" I whispered. I closed my eyes because Clark might hear her.
"So, class... As I was saying, I hope Clark will be your friend. I mean, all of our transferees will be admitted to your section," said Sir Ferdinand.
I raised my hand.
"Yes, Ms. Mendez?"
"Sir, don't we have rules that transferees can't even be entered into the pilot section? How come they are with us?" It's not my intention to insult. I was really curious that’s why I asked. I was just as calm as playing with the ends of my hair but the man in front of me was giggling.
"Excuse me, Sir Ferdinand and Miss...?"
"Mendez," I said.
"... Yeah! Ms. Mendez, actually, I was wondering why I was in the pilot section. I also read the rules in the booklet. So if you notice, my duration stands at the door earlier because I was making sure that the classroom I went to was right. But as you can see, it seems… right. Is something wrong? " He raised an eyebrow.
I felt my palms go down and my eyebrows raised. "Nothing. I'm just ... curious," I said as I clenched my arms.
"I see."
I wanted to calm down but my hands were shaking and it was cold. I also hear the energy of my heartbeat. I just shook my head.
"There has been a change in our school's protocol, Ms. Mendez. There is one more issue regarding our transferees. Next month a new school booklet will be released where the rules and regulations have been changed." He explained to me.
Dashna scolded me again and laughed softly. So does Tony. I just had facepalms because of the shame.
But I felt even more ashamed when the man Clark laughed. I quickly wiped my hands from my face and looked at him sharply. He immediately looks at me so serious and raised his eyebrows again. So do I.
What's funny?
THE DAY PASSED but my annoyance still lingered. Clark's temperament is disturbing. What does he think? Because he’s so handsome and smart, he can spend it that way?
"Zai, are you alright?" Tony asked me while adjusting his pink sling bag.
"Yeah, anyway. I have something to buy at the mall." Tony just nodded.
I was just leaving the room when suddenly I was hit from behind. To my surprise, I was already cursing.
"S-sorry!"
I could feel my blood boiling. When I saw who hit me, my blood pressure was even higher. "You !? What's your problem?" I yelled at him.
"Why? Do you own the hall? I'm sorry!"
"Oh! Thank you for your sorry! What more do I owe?"
"Zairene, calm down!"
"That's right, Zai. Let's go." Tony and Dashna pulled me over but I didn't budge. I glared at the guy who hit me.
"Don’t act as if you are pretty. The thing is, you are not,” he whispered while walking away.
I was amazed by what I heard. I heard my classmates, as well as passersby in our corridor, laughing. "W-what did you say!?" I shout out to the unlucky guy.
Instead of responding, he just raised a hand that seemed to wave at me.
