Aurora

"I believe this must be placed in an effect. It has been hundred years since we were blessed with a Guardian, and now we have Isla. We know the rumors from the outside about guardians." Isla's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, glancing at Edward from the corner of her eye. What was Edward talking about? The entire council members murmured amongst themselves, nodding their heads. "We must protect our Guardian." One said. "Agreed!" Another said. "But our trade?" "This kingdom will be nothing without our Guardian." Everyone became silent, turning their gaze over at a confused Isla. However, she does not show it. If the shield did cut off the migration of people, it would affect the trade, and she knew the council members would not like that. Most of the people in this room have a business that needs that trade. However, Edward argued about her safety. Isla was the Guardian of Aurora Kingdom, discovered at age seven and brought into the Temple palace. Since becoming a Guardian, she has been learning scrolls from the temple and the kingdom's regions. By the time Isla was twelve, she would learn about her Guardian gifts. But King Vincent attacked the kingdom, which Isla now realized was odd as the Aurora Kingdom was filled with magic users. How was he able to attack this kingdom? "Edward and I shall research how to use the shield to protect our kingdom and give a pass," Isla said. "But until we find a solution, I encourage you to consider this." Everyone muttered an agreement, nodding their heads 'yes' and glanced at each other. "Also, I want information about the two kings and try finding the reason for the confront," she said, glancing over the man with fiery orange hair. "Ah, yes! Your Duke Blasie would be on it!" he said gleefully with a wide grin. Isla smiled and nodded. She rose from her seat, and everyone followed, bowing their head. "In two weeks, we continue this discussion." She walked out of the council room with Edward following close beside her. They were away from the council room. Isla had a question she needed answers to. "What did you mean back then?" Isla asked. "As you know, from generation to generation, Guardians held unbelievable powers connecting this world to the spirit world. Word of this spread across the world, causing envy and war. The Church of Light believed that a god-like heir would be born if a Guardian and a royal unite." Edward said. Isla stopped in her tracks and glanced at Edward. "Have that union ever happened?" she asked. "There's a reason why it took a hundred years for a Guardian to be born. The King at that time kidnapped the young Guardian. Still, another person interrupted the exchange and murdered Reed for his heart." Her eyes widened in horror, unaware she lifted her hand and placed it on her heart. "Is everything okay?" Edward asked, placing his hand on her shoulder. "Uh... I would like to learn how to use a sword." "A sword?" Isla nodded, cleared her throat, and turned on her heels. "With my concern on this war, I don't have my powers. I think I should learn to defend myself." "There's no reason to defend yourself. You have me." Isla stopped again, feeling touched because she knew he would give his life for her. Which he did. He lost his life trying to buy time for Sara and her to escape. "I still need to learn," she said under her breath and continued to walk down the hallway. But the one piece of information she was glad to learn was the Church of Light believed her giving powers to a future heir. Did her marriage to Aeson stop the war? A few months later, she remembered after her marriage to Aeson, the war between Veritas and Amun. She never thought that marriage could have been connected to stopping the war, but she does not care about the war. The gods brought her back for a reason. Aurora needs her to prevent King Vincent from attacking and using her for his greed. But why did Veritas and Amun kingdoms are at war? Edward furrowed his eyebrows and narrowed his gaze at Isla. She had been acting strange since morning. Even her walking changed, and her lack of energy. Usually chatty and bouncing around, but she never liked the council. In her words, 'the council are a group of grumpy nobles that concern themselves of a profit.' "ISLA!" Sara called out, waving at Isla before running towards her. Edward rolled his eyes as Sara threw herself on Isla. "Sara behaves respectable," he said. Sara stared at Edward over Isla's shoulder, rolled her eyes, and stuck her tongue out at him. "Anyway... You have some reading to do," she said, pulling away from Isla. "Let's go!" Isla glanced over at Edward as Sara pulled her to run down the hallway. Edward shrugged his shoulders, staying on the spot. Once Sara and Isla disappeared, Duke Nix, Duke Blaise, Duke Ivar, and another person with dark blue hair and crystal blue eyes approached Edward. He turned to the four Dukes, nodding his head at him. "Is Her Grace okay?" Duke Jared asked. He had dark blue hair and crystal blue eyes. "Yes, she is well," Edward said with a warm smile. The four Dukes were silent, glancing at each other. "Is the war causing her any concern?" Duke Nix asked. "This war can make us profits, selling magical crystals and gems." "Which kingdom are you planning to sell?" Duke Ivar asked. "Business is business," Duke Nix said, smirking. "But her Grace's concerns must be addressed. If she feels this war would endanger the kingdom, do you think we need to listen..." Duke Jared said. Duke Blaise beamed in laughter, slapping Duke Jared and Duke Nix's back. Both Dukes groaned and glared at Duke Blaise, who folded his arms across his chest. "She has the right to worry, especially for King Vincent. He is a bit of a madman and close shoulders with the Church of Light," Duke Blaise said. Edward sighed. "Leave Grace's concerns to me, and you all focus on your objectives. In two weeks, a decision needs to be made on keeping the trade flowing and keep the shield up." They nodded their heads before walking away from Edward. Edward shrugged and sighed, walking down the hallway. Meanwhile, Sara prepares Isla's afternoon tea and hums a song loudly. Isla smiled warmly, watching her handmaiden and friend dancing around while doing her work. The handmaidens in Veritas palace were stiff and had no interest in her. "Isla..." Isla hummed, staring at Sara as she poured some tea for Isla. "You've been different this morning. Is everything okay?" she asked. "Uh..." Isla lowered her gaze to her hands. Isla trusted Sara, but she did not know if Sara would believe that she saw the future or been in the future. Guardian powers were confusing to her, as she knew her gifts would come later. Also, Edward treats her like a child, just like the council. "I'm worried about the kingdom and would like to protect it as best I could," Isla said. "How does it feel to have magic?" she asked, lifting her gaze. Sara sighed, shrugged her shoulders, and approached Isla with her teacup. "It's really fun. Sometimes learning a new spell can trickle," Sara said. "You'll know about it later." She placed the teacup before Isla. "Why do I need to gain my magic later? If I'm the Guardian, I shouldn't have a bit of that magic... I left my home at seven years old and could have been this reading back at home." Sara chuckled, pulling the book away from Isla and staring at it. She hummed, flipped the pages, and closed the book. "Right, but we wouldn't have met." "I would like to master a blade." Sara gasped in excitement and took hold of Isla's hands. "That's a brilliant idea! You can be like the late Lillian and Kenan! They not only master magic but also the sword." "Really?" Sara nods her head. "But Edward doesn't like that idea," Isla said. Sara chinged her face and rolled her eyes in annoyance. "He's just saying that because he doesn't want to get in trouble for harming a Guardian." They stared at each other, and Sara clenched Isla's hands, then let them go. "I know someone close to our age who can help. Word on the street is that he's a promising talent." "Promising talent?" "Yes! People call him night blade due to his sword iron and his hair. His handsome," Sara said under a giggle. Isla smiled, chuckling at Sara. Suddenly, remembered the name night blade. King Vincent had been hunting for night blade due to rebellion. The night blade had crimson blood red-eye and raven black hair, and it was rumored that his sword was from a demon. That was why his eyes were crimson blood red. Some said he was a son of a devil. No one knew where the night blade came from. He simply appeared after two years after the war, causing trouble. If the night blade that Sara talked about was in this kingdom, then she was her chance. "I must meet him," Isla said. "Tonight..." Sara said, grinning ear to ear and wiggling her eyebrows. "We are sneaking out." Since she arrived, Sara had always wanted to sneak Isla out of the palace. However, Edward always kept an eye and protected her since her discovery. "Tonight..." Isla said, nodding her head. Sara clapped her hands and squealed gleefully. Later that night, Edward observed Isla's night routine and tucked her into bed. "Edward, why haven't we done a marriage agreement between royals and Guardian?" Isla asked, staring up at Edward with an innocent gaze. Edward shook his head, caressing Isla's hair away from her face. "Guardians take an oath once they receive their gifts; bare no child and take no lover or partner. Your work and commitment are to the kingdom," he said. Isla's heart ached at not being allowed to start a family. She has always thought once she found the one, she would marry and have children playing around in their cozy home. Even at Veritas, she did not care if she gave birth to Aeson's heir as long as she had someone by her side. She would be happy. "You can think of the kingdom's people as your own children." "But I'm a child?" Edward chuckled, patting Isla's head as he stepped back. "Rest..." he said, closing the curtains and checking the room security. After seeing nothing ordinary, he glanced over Isla's bed. He sighed before walking out of the room. His footsteps echoed down the quiet hallways, fading away from Isla's room. Once he was gone, Isla opened her eyes and slipped out of bed. Sara revealed herself from under Isla's bed, crawling out on her belly and jumping onto her feet. She huffed and smiled over at Isla, who slipped on trousers. "Oh, this is exciting!" Sara said, looking under the bed and pulling out a bag and cloaks. "I can't believe Edward would say that to you!" Isla glanced over at Sara with a 'don't start' look before stretching out her hand for the cloak. Sara rolled her eyes, handing it over. "Maybe you need this," Sara said, throwing her cloak over her shoulders. She approached Isla to help her put on her cloak. "I memorized the guards run, and we need to run." "What?" Sara grabbed Isla's wrist, ran towards the doors, and ignored Isla's squeals. She giggled, raising her hand and snapped her fingers, teleporting them outside to the teleporting hall. Isla gasped, glanced around, and saw no one was around as Sara dragged her towards the teleportation pad. "We have three hours until this pad is closed. So, we need to be quick," Sara said as they faced each other. "Ready?" Isla nodded her head. "Stay still!" Sara grinned and clapped her hand, then the magic mark lit up under their feet before it rose over them. Isla clenched her eyes shut and held both Sara's hands. It had been long since Isla used a teleportation pad, and nervous bubbles bubbled within her. Her body felt light, feeling a breeze surround her before everything became still. "You can open your eyes," Sara said. Isla hesitantly opened her eyes, and a gasp left her lips as she stared in awe.
