Chapter nine

*Sven* It had been two nights since Drex had brought the first female to try out for the guard to my kingdom. Although at first, Charles, Phillippe and Martyn had been against her being here, their complaints had started to dwindle down to only a few gripes, usually about her not knowing their training routine and using the location or equipment that they wanted to use at that time. I sighed as I rubbed my temple, looking around the table to find Frankie glaring at her brothers. “What is your problem Frankie?” I asked. “Well, maybe if they told Yasmin where they wanted to be and when, then she wouldn’t be there when they wanted to be.” She hissed without even turning to look at me. “Don’t get so attached to the Sedvey, Frankie. She will not last long once the guard trials start.” Phillippe chuckled. Frankie hit her hand against the table. “You have no idea how strong she is, I bet that she will make it through anything that you can throw at her!” She yelled. “She is more competent and dedicated than I would have thought.” Charles admitted. “But all that means nothing when it comes down to it. Sedvey’s rarely have abilities that mean that they can successfully attack and that is needed to be part of the guard.” “What is her ability?” Martyn asked. Frankie hung her head, slipping back into her seat. “You don’t even know, do you?” “Well, it must be useful if Drex brought her here.” Frankie muttered, although she did not sound so confident in her words anymore. “Look. Post your schedule of training on the wall of the mess so that Yasmin and the other female guard tryouts know what they can and cannot use and when.” I sighed, regretting my decision to allow the female guards just because of the head ache it was giving me. “When is Drex bringing more females to try out?” Frankie asked. As if he had heard her, Drex walked into the room, nodding to me slightly with respect before taking his seat around the table. I looked at him expectantly for a moment before he gave me a wide smile. “I have managed to find a few more females who could fit the bill that we need for the guards.” He announced with pride. “Not more Sedvey’s.” Phillippe groaned. “No.” Drex sighed. “Four Physvey’s and a Telvey. Their makers were happy for them to come to work for the Master vampire and required nothing in return.” I nodded to Drex, proud that he had managed to find more females so I could stop listening to the others go on about Yasmin and also happy that at least some of my people still understood and respected my rule over them even from this distance. “Does this mean we can start the trials?” Martyn asked, a little too eagerly. “No. I still have a few more places to visit. We will then have all that I can find and you can trail them.” Drex huffed, not liking the way his brothers were becoming impatient, knowing that they all secretly hoped that none of them would make it through. “Fine, but you have to accept what we have chosen for the trial. Choosing who is part of the guard and the groups is our responsibility, not yours.” Charles announced, his voice hard and void of emotion. “Fine by me.” Drex shrugged, trying to sound as equally detached but just missing the mark. With that, Charles, Phillippe and Martyn left the room. Frankie turned to Drex, her eyes wide with excitement. “What are the other females like?” She asked, holding her hands together as she jiggled up and down. “Not now Frankie. Why don’t you go and see for yourself?” I told her, watching as she stood up and stormed out of the room, not happy I was dismissing her. “So Drex, what other news do you have for me from the districts?” Drex let out a long sigh. “Most of them are suck ups, putting on their best faces because they know that the creation of the Master vampire is visiting. But I can see through the few c****s in their facade. I think most of them are still loyal to you, unquestioningly. But some are starting to rule over their districts as if they themselves are the Master vampire, those under them fearing their wrath more than your own.” I slammed my hand into the table, electricity wrapping around me with the rage that I felt. How dare they see themselves as my equal and teach others to fear them more than me. “Word of your removal of Demitri as district leader has spread. This seems to be making others think twice about how they are running their own districts and I am hoping that when I visit again, I will find their loyalty returned to you and you alone.” “See that it is!” I hissed. “I want the names of those that you deem the least likely to change as well as suitable replacement district leaders if it should become necessary. I will change the whole f*****g structure if I have to to reassert my rule.” “Yes sire.” Drex stood and bowed, leaving me to write up his report. I let out a long sigh, glad that I could trust Drex with anything. He was a good man, loyal to a fault. I only hoped that he was right and that I could bite this decent in the ass before it spread. *Yasmin* When I returned to the dorm, aching all over from my work out, I was surprised to find five other female vampires there. There were four Physveys, each of them looking like an amazonian goddess, their bodies layered with muscles yet still able to look feminie. The Telvey looked like she was turned into a vampire in her early thirties. All five of them looked me up and down before smiling to each other. “I think you are in the wrong place Sedvey. The harem is in the Master’s tower.” One of the Physveys commented. Great, just great. “Why are you so dirty and sweaty?” The Telvey commented, looking at me like I was a piece of s**t on the bottom of her shoe. “I have been training.” I told her, grabbing the towel from my chest before heading to the shower block. “Some of us don’t need to train sweetheart, maybe you should think about asking for directions to the harem.” The first woman called to me, making the others laugh. As I stood under the spray of the shower, I could hear the Telvey and Physvey continue their banter about the fact that I was a Sedvey. The other three Physveys seemed to be keeping their comments to themselves, if they had any. I was slightly grateful for that, given I could just about cope with the horrible things that the two were deciding to shout at me from where I showered, and if all five of them decided to group together, I was not sure I could cope. After my shower, I walked out to see Frankie at the door, her mouth set in a hard line. “Oh look, another lost whore.” The Physvey chuckled. Frankie let out a loud sarcastic laugh, holding on to her sides as if she could not contain the halirity of her comment. When she eventually stopped, her face went back to being set like stone as she stared at the woman who had made the comment. “For your information, I am Frankie, one of the Master vampire’s creations.” I watched as the Physvey’s face instantly fell and another broke out into laughter, pointing at her as if to emphasise how badly she had f****d up. “I did come down here to offer to give you a tour, but if you are going to be making comments like that, I am sure you can find your own way around.” With that, Frankie sent me a sweet smile before leaving and slamming the door behind her. “Why didn’t you tell me?” The Physvey who had put her foot in it yelled at me. “You didn’t ask.” I shrugged as I placed my towel over the heated pipe and crawled into bed. The Physvey took a step towards me before one of the Physveys who was yet to say anything put her hand up. “Look, it is your own fault for being so small minded. Get over it and learn from your mistakes.” The others nodded their heads, before they all set up and went to sleep as well. The next evening when I woke up, the three Physveys who had chosen not to comment last night got up as well, following me to the mess where they soaked up the attention that they got off the male guards and groups. I left them to it, heading to the fridge and grabbing a blood bag before turning around to find Charles glaring more at the other women than at me, making me smile slightly. He stuck a piece of paper to the wall before glaring around the room, all the men jumping to their feet and running out as Charles gave his speech about not distracting his men to the newbies. “What crawled up his ass and died?” The Physvey who had told the other to shut up last night asked. “That is Charles, another of the Master vampire’s creations.” I watched as she winced slightly before giving me an apologetic smile. “He likes to be called sir and I have found it easier to just do as he says.” “Thanks, I’m Nichole.” She gave me a small nod, holding out her hand. “Yasmin.” I introduced myself, shaking her hand, feeling that she had the ability to turn into a lioness, which suited the way that she looked with her wild red hair and cat like eyes. I walked over to the piece of paper on the wall, reading the schedule that was written on it while planning my work out for the night. “Do you mind if we come with you, given we don’t know our way around here?” Nicole asked, looking unsure of herself. I shrugged slightly. “It’s fine by me, but I will be training most of the night.” “Oh, that is good for me. I am not like that other woman and know that even though we are Physveys, we still have to train to make sure that we have the same speed and dexterity as the other breeds of vampires.” I looked behind her, seeing the other two giving me small nods that they agreed before leading them outside. It was a major confidence boost working out with the other women. I found that using both my human and vampire speed, I was faster and more agile than all of them by a mile. They seemed to use the same technique as I did at first through the trees, getting their bearings before trying to complete it faster and faster. In the weight room though, they had me beat, but they were still encouraging me like I did them on the field and in the forest. The other two introduced themselves as Isla and Lilibeth, which matched the exotic feeling that they both emanated. I hoped that the three of them made it through as I could see myself working alongside them. The other two though seemed overly confident and to try to keep to themselves. I would hate having to spend the rest of eternity stuck sharing a room with them, especially since they did not learn their lesson at all and continued to berate me with their comments when we returned to the dorm just before dawn. All I could do though was hope.
