In this world where nothing but love was shown to me. I had hoped that the man who would be my husband would also love the naïve me. But things are never as they seem and all I got was pain and sadness. Stuck with the truth that covered the eyes of a stupid person like me.
My father arranged my dream marriage to the man I always had a crush on. James Kendrick was the most handsome duke of the empire. The man every lady dreams of having a one-night stand with. Of course, that’s not what I had coveted. What I truly wanted was to marry him and that’s what I got.
Little did I know that all that bastard’s family wanted was my wealth. The one my father gave me for use when I got married. That little bastard agreed just to use me. To make me his piggy and waste my wealth on another woman.
Now here I was crawling on the floor with blood oozing from my mouth and an awful pain in my abdomen.
“Y-You bastard!” I shrieked as I tried to reach for the brown shoes.
“Tsk, you are troublesome,” the familiar yet cold voice muttered. With hazy eyes, I looked up and saw the scowl plastered on my so-called husband’s face. I hated him.
“If you had silently stayed obedient, all this would have been unnecessary, but you had to put your nose where it wasn’t needed,” James growled as he let go of my head.
I tiredly looked at him between the warm tears that fell on my cheeks. How could I be so stupid?
“How could you!” I coughed. “I loved you! Gave you everything, even me!” I dug my nails into the wooden floor with anger as I coughed blood. The bastard had fed me poison to get rid of me silently.
“Yes, but I didn’t,” James smirked, and gripped my chin hard. “All I want from you is your money. I never loved you, you stupid bitch.”
I raised my hand and tried to scratch his face. But he laughed and let go of me instead. I mustered my strength and tried to stand up, but my knees buckled, making me fall flat on the ground. James turned and walked over to the nearby shelf and started looking for something.
“You know, we will have to tell your father that his poor daughter got attacked by some thieves. After all, he has a lot of enemies, right?” James chuckled. “Good thing is, I will cry for you, so don’t worry, my wife.”
I heaved with anger as I tried to look at him.
“Don’t worry, it will be a quick death,” James smirked devilishly and kicked me in the stomach again. I groaned in pain as he continued kicking and turning me over.
I opened my eyes and held my painful stomach. As I peered at him, my eyes widened the size of a saucer. James held an ax in his hands.
“D-Don’t!” I cried in tears, begging this bastard who laughed and swung the ax.
I can’t die like this, I can’t!
James swung the ax down and the ax hit straight on my neck. I didn’t have time to scream or plea. And just like that, my life ceased to exist.
If there’s any god who is listening, I beg you for a second chance. I want to live again and kill the bastards who played me and brought me to my death.
If someone could listen, I would do anything, just give me a chance.

My eyes fluttered open, and I was welcomed by the white drapes of the familiar poster bed I laid in. I blinked and sat up, confused. Didn’t I just die?
The flashbacks played on my mind, and I moved my hand to my neck. Everything felt so real. Did I imagine it then?
I’m supposed to be dead, so how was I alive?
I shuddered as sweat broke on my forehead. I didn’t die then? Was that all a dream?
A knock on the door had me jumping in fear.
“My Lady?” the familiar voice said. I frowned, confused. The knocks continued until the door opened, and I stared at it in confusion.
“Morning, my lady,” Nora smiled warmly. Tears started sliding down my face as I stared at her smiling face.
Nora was supposed to be dead, so how come?
“My lady, what’s the matter?” Nora asked as she rushed to my side. My hands moved to my face. I could feel the warm tears. This wasn’t a dream, this was as real as it can get.
“Now, now don’t cry. I know you are nervous about your engagement, but you shouldn’t,” Nora said, consoling me. Her hands rubbed my back as I gasped at her words.
“Engagement?” I repeated, bewildered.
“Yes, what’s wrong with you today, my lady?” Nora asked as she put her hands on her hips.
I stood abruptly in a daze and walked over to the window. As I passed by the mirror, I stopped, tensing. My eyes widened in shock as I stared at my reflection. How could that be?
Getting closer, I touch my face, my hair, and my body. The engagement with James was a year before we got married. So, did I return in time?
I lowered my eyes to my neck. The familiar feeling made me shudder. It was real, everything was real, but why was I back? Did God heed my prayer?
Lifting my eyes, I gawked once again at my face. If I was back, it meant I got my second chance.
“My lady?” Nora called from behind.
“Today is the party, right?” I asked, with my eyes still on my reflection. “The engagement party.”
“Yes, we have to get you prepared,” Nora smiled awkwardly.
I gulped, but kept my mind calm. This is my chance.
“Good, let’s get prepared,” I smiled. Nora squealed and rushed to the bathroom. I looked back at my face and then my neck. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath to calm my beating heart down.
“I have returned for my revenge, and I will surely make you people pay,” I muttered angrily.
Now that I have got my second chance again. I will do what I wish for, and that is to take revenge on the Kendrick family and whoever was involved with them.
