The rest of the journey was, to say the least, completely f*****g awkward. Zeke was still leading us, but would occasionally look back and get depressed all over again when he saw Penelope and I running side by side. Out of respect and sympathy for him, I tried not to get too close to her, not wanting to rub it in, but it was so damn hard. She had chosen me as her mate and I chose her along time ago, so our wolves were wanting to get closer and complete the mate bond. Her arousal in the air almost made me lose control back there, but I would never ravish her like an animal. Well, maybe one day, but not for our first time. I was going to cherish her.
