CHAPTER 11 Zev closed his eyes as his shoulders slouched and his chin dropped to his chest. An arrow of pain shot through Jett’s heart from the defeat in his mate’s posture and the mask of torment apparent on his face. Then Zev turned away from him before he began to speak, and the anguish in Zev’s voice almost brought Jett to his knees. “You don’t know what it was like, Jett,” Zev whispered. Jett took a step closer until he could feel Zev’s heat, knowing that Zev could feel his, too. He wanted to reach out and place a hand on Zev’s shoulder, connecting them but was afraid to break the spell Zev seemed to be under.
