Ang Boyfriend Kong...

Clause 8: Ang Boyfriend Kong... gamer.

Kat's Note: As was explained on the clause, gamer nga siya and I have learned from this na kakaiba pala ang feeling kapag gamer ang boyfriend mo. Paano? Have a look ;)

Time Frame: A little while after our relationship started.

Once pumunta ako ng bahay nila para mag-chill kasama siya pero ang magaling kong boyfriend busy maglaro ng mga videogames niya.

It was a sunny afternoon at tinext ako ni Nic na pumunta daw ako sa bahay nila.

Umakyat naman na ko at pagdating ko sa labas ng kwarto ni Nic, kumatok ako. "Nic?"

"Pasok," he answered.

Pagbukas ko naman I saw Nic paused his game and stood up to greet me. My eyes were roaming around his room when he kissed me on my cheek. "Hi," he smiled at me.

At hindi ko alam kung bakit pero kinilig ako dahil sa simpleng bati niya lang.

"Hello," I replied, almost breathless.

"Upo ka muna, may tinatapos lang ako," he said and gestured towards his bed before returning to his bean bag and to his game.

I was hesitant na umupo sa kama niya. Baka kasi mamaya...

I mentally slapped myself. Ano ba yan, Kat?! Kung ano-ano iniisip mo!"

So I sat down and took a good look on his bedroom again. Hindi naman ito 'yung unang beses na makakapasok ako dito. Pero ito 'yung unang pagkakataon na mags-stay ako sa loob.

Red, black, and white. 'Yan lang ang main colors na makikita mo sa kwarto niya. 'Yung black parts ng pader niya may mga doodles ni Lei gamit ang puting marker; Adventure Time, Dota and LOL heroes, aztec, at 'yung iba random na lang. Sa ibabaw ng kama ni Nic, may mga posters siya ng mga kung ano-anong laro at sa tapat nito naka-hang na ang malapad niyang TV kung saan naka-connect ang console na ginagamit niya ngayon. Tatlong malaking bean bags at carpet ang pwede mong maupuan. Mayroon din siyang computer table pero 'yung PC niya nasa salas nila. Sa sahig, may ilang damit na nakakalat at ilang cases ng mga video games niya.

Gamer pala siya.

Ito pala 'yung bagong na discover niya tulad nung sabi ni Lei noon. At ito rin 'yung rason kung bakit ayaw na niyang mag-varsity ng basketball. Siguro nga masaya na siya dito sa mga nilalaro niya.

I looked at what he was playing and his character was running away from something or was it hiding? Nakita ko naman 'yung lagayan ng CD at 'yung title "The Evil Within".

It didn't look like na matatapos nang maaga si Nic kaya kinuha ko na lang 'yung phone ko at nag-scroll sa weheartit. Nakakita naman ako ng picture ng isang babae at 'yung boyfriend niya. It's actually a comic strip. Her boyfriend was playing LOL and she asked if they could cuddle and he answered with a 'Soon' and then she fell asleep waiting for him. I silently laughed at the picture.

Napatingin naman ako kay Nic. Teka, parang ganun nga yata 'yung mangyayari sakin. Soon-zoned nalang siguro lagi. Kita mo nga, inaantay ko siya ngayon na matapos sa kakalaro niya.

I typed into google 'Gamer Boyfriends' and I clicked this site with the caption "Why Gamers Make Great Boyfriends"

1. Gamers know the value of planning ahead.

2. Gamers know the value of being on time.

3. Gamers can deal with annoying people.

4. Gamers can deal with angry idiots.

5. Gamers are great at repetitive tasks.

6. Gamers, above all, are grown ups too.

Ayon, ito 'yung hinahanap ko eh. Essay cut short—if a gamer's partner is mature, they'd most likely do the same thing. You wouldn't want to nag at them to stop what they are playing to come to buy that dress you've seen in the mall the other day. They'd do what they want to do and do what they like.

Give gamers a chance. They'll probably surprise you.

Yan 'yung nakasulat doon. Pero siguro nga. Pero ang weird ni Nic eh, pinapunta niya ko dito para lang intayin ko siyang matapos sa kakalaro at mamatay ako sa boredom. But the thing is, I honestly didn't mind at all. He keeps to his space and I keep to mine. Tsaka hindi naman kasi 'yung tipo ng babae na magde-demand ng atensyon sa boyfriend—well, minsan, oo sige. Pero hindi lagi.

Nag-research pa ko ng mga pictures nung drawing na comic strip at 'yung iba nakakatawa naman pero sobrang sweet naman nung boyfriend niya. Kakabasa ko, hindi ko akalain na makaka-idlip ako. Saglit lang naman.

I was already awake but I haven't opened my eyes yet. I was waiting for sleep to come back because I was still sleepy. But after a few minutes, I heard Nic yawn and stretch; his bones cracking from his previous position. It was followed by his footsteps and I sensed that it stopped in front of me.

I wanted to know what he was gonna do watching me sleep.

Would he caress my cheek? Would he trace my features? Would he push back stray hair away my face? Would he stare at me with pure admiration? Would he snap a picture of me and keep it forever? Or would he kiss me lightly?

All of those were my fantasies.

And still fantasies.

Because none of it happened. Because I was wrong.

He never did any of those.

Instead, I heard the smile in his voice when he said, "Tulog na."

Then he walked away from me.

Yes! Yes he did!

There were a few seconds of shuffling before I heard a different tune from the new game he put on.

I wasn't disappointed or mad just because he didn't meet my fantasies. I actually wanted to laugh my a*s off and roll on the floor. I wanted to laugh because I know he's different from the rest of the boys I've met. I wanted to laugh because I was surprised.

Earlier, I've read in the article of the perks of having a gamer boyfriend that having a relationship with a gamer is unique and everyone deserves to have a try.

Gamers always jump out of the ordinary. They are never your usual boyfriends.

Just when I thought he was going to do something sweet, he'd rather leave me alone so he could also be alone with his game.

Ang weird na natatawa pa ako sa ginawa ni Nic.

And I realized he's just different. He's him. He's original. And I'm glad to say that he's mine.
