“Well, England doesn’t quite offer the same landscapes as Southern California. It sometimes seems it doesn’t offer as much of anything.”
Jess asked, “What do you mean, like, movie stars and all that?”
“I mean, everything. Fame, glamour, danger, love.”
“I think maybe you are talking about not England but your own life,” Uta said. “It seems that you have been sheltered much in your life, yes?”
“Exactly,” she answered. “How did you guess?”
“It made you so excited to by those clothes. You seem like you have never had clothes before that were not bought by your parents.”
“Pretty much. I’m just so hungry to have the freedom to do my own thing. It seems like California is the perfect place to be free.”
